Pottery Created by Our Students
I am immensely proud of the pieces leaving our kiln. This gallery captures the journey of our students as they learn to shape raw clay into functional, beautiful ceramic art.
A stunning collection of blue and white pottery from my graduating professional course students. The variety of forms and patterns, from painted florals to graphic grids, is a beautiful teaser of their talent.
These gorgeous marbled mugs and tumblers were made by a recent graduate of our professional course. Using the Neriage technique, she blended different colored clays to create these unique, flowing patterns.
A handbuilt vase inspired by the texture of garlic, created by a student in our Handbuilding Foundation course. It’s a perfect example of finding inspiration in everyday objects.
Composite donut vases made by our advanced level students. This form requires precision in both throwing and assembling, and the results are modern, sculptural, and incredibly elegant.
A section-thrown vase with beautiful relief carvings of flowers. This piece, made by an advanced student, showcases a wonderful combination of throwing skill and delicate sculptural work.
Pierced, double-walled bowls created by advanced throwing students. This complex technique creates a beautiful play of light and shadow, turning a simple bowl into a decorative luminary.
These beautiful stoneware goblets were made by an advanced student. The rich, flowing glazes and elegant forms make them perfect for special occasions.
A showcase of lidded pots from our students. Mastering a well-fitting lid is a key skill, and these pieces show a wonderful variety of forms and glaze combinations.
Fresh out of the kiln! These bowls and lidded jars show the magical transformation of glazes during firing, resulting in deep, vibrant colors and unique crystalline effects.
Work-in-progress prototypes from a professional course student. Her exploration of form and dramatic, flowing glazes on these goblets and bowls is leading to a truly stunning final collection.
About Student Showcase: From Clay to Creation
This gallery showcases real work from our community, not factory-made items. Every piece here, from the intricate relief-carved vases to the marbled Neriage tumblers, was crafted by a student working through their own design challenges. Seeing how they take a raw lump of clay and turn it into something functional is the best part of running this studio.
Walking through the studio and seeing what our students create is the highlight of my week. This isn't just about showing off; it is about documenting the shift from 'I have no idea what I'm doing' to pulling off complex forms like lidded jars, composite donut vases, or double-walled bowls. In our courses here in Indiranagar, we don’t just teach you to throw; we teach you how to handle the material.
You will see work from our Level 1 foundations through to our advanced progression students, covering a wide range of methods including handbuilding, relief carving, and complex glazing. Whether you are interested in wheel throwing or sculptural handbuilding, the goal is to make objects that actually work. I see students arrive frustrated that their clay won't center, only to graduate weeks later with a collection of finished ceramics—mugs that hold coffee perfectly, bowls for home use, and vases that sit straight.
We focus on the 'why' behind every move. Why do we wedge this way? How do we prevent cracks during drying? You will find that the work showcased here reflects that deep-dive approach. If you have ever wanted to get messy and learn the craft, this is where you start. Most of our students join with no experience, and within a few months, they are glazing their own professional-grade pieces. It is messy, loud, and incredibly rewarding.
