I’m Gauri, the founder of GOAK Ceramics. Welcome to my Indiranagar studio, where we turn raw clay into stories, community, and everyday pieces that make life a little more beautiful.

It's been almost two years since I opened my studio, so I felt it was time to reintroduce myself. I'm Gauri Oak, the founder of GOAK Ceramics, and I'm so proud of the thriving community we've built here.

A candid shot of me in my happy place. This year, my priority is to put out more of my own work and continue to nurture our studio community.

Another portrait from a recent photoshoot in the studio. I'm holding a simple ball of clay, which is where every single piece begins.

A smiling shot of me in my studio. Building this space and community has been one of the most fulfilling experiences of my life.

Here I am centering clay on the wheel, the very first step in the throwing process. It's a moment of focus and connection with the material.

Another shot of me at the wheel, lost in the process of shaping a pot. The natural light in my studio makes it a beautiful place to work.

A photo of me working at the wheel, surrounded by shelves of pottery. This is my world, and I'm so happy to share it with you.

A photo from my end-of-year recap. 2024 was a blur of travel, teaching, and making, and I'm so grateful for all of it.

About Meet Gauri

When you visit my studio, it is not just about watching clay spin on a wheel. I love teaching students how to find their rhythm with the mud, whether you are a complete beginner taking a one-day workshop or working through a full professional pottery course. Every class is designed to be a relaxed, hands-on experience where you learn the actual craft, from handle math to glazing, in a space that feels like a second home.

Three years ago, GOAK Ceramics was just me, a tiny room, and a few wheels. Since then, we have grown into a thriving community right here in Indiranagar, with over 100 students having passed through our doors. For me, pottery has always been about more than the final mug or bowl; it is about the conversations we have while our hands are covered in clay.

My work often starts with a narrative. Whether I am carving intricate details into my Déesse Collection or testing a new glaze for a custom commission, I am constantly looking for ways to blend function with storytelling. I believe that if you are going to use an object every day, it should have a bit of a soul.

If you are looking to get your hands messy, my workshops are the perfect place to start. I keep my groups small so I can actually spend time with each of you, helping you troubleshoot your throwing technique or figuring out how to balance a handle just right. We focus on high-fired stoneware, which means everything we make is durable enough for daily use in your home. I don't believe in gatekeeping the craft. If you are curious about the technical side, from cone temperatures to the physics of clay, I am always happy to dive into the nitty-gritty with you. Come by the studio, share a coffee, and let’s make something together.
