Feel the clay spin and take shape beneath your fingertips. From centering to finished forms, come learn the therapeutic craft of wheel throwing with me. ✨

With each spin of the wheel, the clay transforms. This is where I find my focus, shaping not just pottery, but also patience and creativity. ❤️

Come visit me at one of my studios! This video shows the process of creating a tall, textured vase on the wheel, a technique I love to teach in my workshops.

Look at these beautiful wheel-thrown pieces made by participants in one of my workshops! It’s amazing to see what you can create in just a short time.

Learning to throw on the wheel is a journey. This clip shows the process of shaping a simple cylinder, the foundational form for many ceramic pieces like mugs and jars.

I love sharing my passion for pottery with others. Here I am at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, guiding a student as they learn to center clay and create their first piece on the wheel.

This is the satisfying process of shaping a shallow plate on the wheel. My hands guide the clay outwards to form the perfect rim for a handmade ceramic dish.

Here is one of my students, Maya, completely in her zone. You can see the focus and joy as she adds texture to her piece on the wheel.

Trimming the base of a bowl is just as important as throwing it. This step gives the piece a clean, finished foot to stand on.

Ever wonder how lids are made? Here, I am "throwing off the hump" to create a perfectly fitting lid for a jar.

Need a taller piece? I can stack two freshly thrown cylinders on the wheel and join them together to create large vases and statement pieces.

About The Art of the Wheel

If you have never touched clay, do not worry—most people who join my wheel sessions are complete beginners. I am right there to guide your hands through every step of centering, pulling, and shaping the clay. You do not need artistic experience to create something beautiful, just a willingness to get your hands messy and enjoy the process of making a piece that is truly yours.

Finding Your Rhythm with Clay

Wheel throwing is less about achieving instant perfection and more about the meditative connection between your hands and the spinning clay. In my Bengaluru studios, we break the process down into manageable, stress-free stages.

What You Will Learn

  • Centering: The foundational skill that turns a lump of clay into a stable, spinning form.
  • Pulling Walls: Learning how to control your pressure to raise the height and thickness of your piece.
  • Shaping: Whether you are crafting a simple coffee mug, a fruit bowl, or a taller vase, we work on the ergonomic techniques needed to get the form you want.
  • Trimming: Using tools to refine the base, giving your pot a professional, clean foot.

The Journey from Studio to Home

I offer everything from one-off trial sessions to structured 10-day courses. We handle the technical side—firing your pieces in the kiln and glazing them—so you can focus on the creativity.

Whether you visit my studio in Jeevan Bima Nagar or the sessions at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, the environment is relaxed and community-focused. You will see students laughing, helping each other, and embracing the inevitable bumps in their clay. It is messy, it is fun, and it is a unique way to spend a few hours away from screens.

If you have a specific project in mind, like a set of mugs for your kitchen or a special gift, tell me when you book. We can tailor your practice time to help you work toward that specific goal.
