Finding strength and awareness through movement
I don't teach to change how you look, but to change how you feel. My classes focus on Fletcher Pilates principles—breath, alignment, and finding ease in your own body, regardless of your fitness level.
This quote is at the core of why I teach. My goal isn't to sell you on weight loss, but to help you find your own "why" for moving and to build a practice that feels satisfying and true to you.
Pilates is not just about getting fit. It's a practice you can tailor to your own body and needs, whether for rehabilitation, performance, or even as a form of moving meditation.
The beauty of Fletcher Pilates is in the small things. This simple prep work builds the internal effort needed for effortless-looking movement. It's all in the details.
One video can be viewed in so many ways, just like our bodies. As a teacher, I believe in evolving with my students and always being open to a different perspective and possibility for movement.
Teaching is a part of my own healing journey. Helping people connect with their bodies and heal, not just physically but mentally, is what gives my work purpose.
I believe in teaching the "why" behind each exercise. My goal is for you to understand the nuances of each movement so you can truly connect with your body and its potential.
A moment of quiet satisfaction after a photoshoot. It's in these impromptu, creative moments that I feel most connected to my work and the community that supports me.
About this collection
If you are tired of exercise routines that feel like a chore or focus only on weight loss, this approach is for you. In these sessions, we prioritize Fletcher Percussive Breathing and precise spinal alignment over endless, mindless reps. You do not need fancy equipment to start—just a willingness to slow down and learn how your specific body moves, whether we are in a studio in Koramangala or you are joining me on Zoom from your living room.
Why Movement Matters
Movement should be a joy, not a punishment. My own path to Fletcher Pilates began with dance and was defined by injuries and self-doubt. I realized that my own fitness wasn't about pushing harder but about understanding my body's language. That is the core of this philosophy: every body is beautiful, and every body deserves to move without fear or restriction. I am not here to help you lose inches; I am here to help you feel at home in your own skin.
The Fletcher Method
Unlike conventional fitness classes, my sessions aren't about burning calories or hitting a number on a scale. We focus on the Fletcher Percussive Breathing technique, which fundamentally alters your movement quality, and Ron’s Clock for spinal mobility. Whether you are a desk worker in Indiranagar dealing with chronic stiffness or a dancer seeking to improve range of motion, these exercises are tailored to your current capacity.
Practical Details
I keep my in-studio classes small—usually 4 to 10 people—because I need to provide hands-on, tactile adjustments to ensure you are moving safely. If you are joining my live virtual sessions, I help you adapt household items to mimic studio props. We are building a community where we learn to feel strong in our own skin, one breath at a time. If you have been hesitant about joining a group class because you feel 'out of shape' or 'stiff,' please know that my space is designed for exactly that. We start where you are.
Akshata Joshi
I’m Akshata. I brought Fletcher Pilates to India because I believe movement is a healing practice, not just a way to burn calories. My classes are a safe space where we drop the perfectionism and focus on how you feel.
