Prop-Assisted Yoga Classes for Mobility and Pain Relief

Yoga is for every body, regardless of age, injury history, or physical limitation. I use props like chairs, straps, and wall ropes to make traditional poses accessible, safe, and deeply effective for your unique needs.

My philosophy is that yoga should fit your body, not the other way around. Here, I am demonstrating how a simple chair can help achieve a deep, safe Anjaneyasana or low lunge, opening the hips and chest without straining the knee. This is the essence of adaptive yoga.

This is what a typical adaptive class looks like. We are using chairs to find stability and alignment in Virabhadrasana, or Warrior Pose. This modification makes the pose accessible for those with knee issues or balance concerns, allowing everyone to build strength safely.

To truly heal, the body must learn to rest. In my restorative yin yoga sessions, we use props like bolsters to support the body in gentle poses, allowing for deep relaxation, reduced stress, and improved sleep.

Props are tools for empowerment. Here, my students are using yoga straps in Dhanurasana, the Bow Pose, to get a better lift and a deeper backbend. This technique helps open the shoulders and chest while protecting the lower back.

My personal practice is the source of my teaching. This is Rajakapotasana, a pose that deeply opens the hips and improves spinal mobility. It reminds me that strength and softness can coexist, a principle I bring into every class.

We also practice yogic kriyas for mental clarity. This is Jyoti Trataka, a candle-gazing meditation that improves focus, calms the mind, and is a powerful technique for relieving anxiety. It is a beautiful way to connect with your inner light.

Hearing about your experiences is what motivates me. This review highlights my commitment to keeping sessions innovative and enriching, which is central to my teaching style.

For those ready to explore deeper, I use techniques like rope wall yoga, inspired by Iyengar methods. This inversion, supported by the ropes, helps decompress the spine and improve circulation with a feeling of lightness and freedom.

About Featured

You might think yoga requires perfect flexibility, but in my sessions, we use chairs, blocks, straps, and Iyengar-style wall ropes to meet your body where it is today. By modifying poses, we remove common strain—like knee pressure or lower back discomfort—so you can focus on stability and healing rather than just trying to force your body into a shape.
