Yoga for Everyone: Classes, Nutrition & Practice in Kaggadasapura
I believe yoga is for every body, regardless of your fitness level or age. This is a look at my holistic approach where we combine strength, mindful nutrition, and ancient yogic wisdom.
This is the energy of our community practice. Here, my students and I are performing 108 rounds of Surya Namaskar (Sun Salutations) together. This dynamic sequence is a complete body workout that builds heat, stamina, and focus.
My personal practice is where I find my center. This is a variation of Parivrtta Eka Pada Rajakapotasana, a deep twisting pigeon pose that challenges balance and enhances spinal mobility. It’s a reminder that yoga is a continuous journey of purification for the body and soul.
Yoga is for everyone, and I use props like chairs to make it accessible. Here, a student uses a chair for support in a modified Anjaneyasana (low lunge), allowing for a deep, safe stretch in the hips and spine, regardless of flexibility or mobility levels.
My approach to wellness is holistic, combining yoga with strength training. This video shows a part of my personal workout, incorporating kettlebell swings and dumbbell squats to build functional strength that complements the flexibility gained on the mat.
The words of my students are my greatest motivation. This review highlights the energizing and enriching experience of my classes, focusing on the variety and innovation I bring to each session to keep the practice engaging.
For deep relaxation, I guide my students through Restorative Yin Yoga. In this session, we are using bolsters for support in Viparita Karani (Legs-Up-the-Wall Pose), a gentle inversion that calms the nervous system, reduces stress, and improves circulation.
Using a rope wall, inspired by Iyengar yoga, allows us to explore inversions and deepen stretches with full support. This practice, often called yoga kurunta, helps decompress the spine and improve circulation in a safe and controlled way.
I am a firm believer that wellness is built in the kitchen. As a certified nutritionist, I emphasize that mindful eating is just as important as your physical practice. What you eat is the foundation of your health and energy.
Finding balance is a constant practice, both on and off the mat. Here I am working on my stability in Malasana (Garland Pose) on a yoga wheel, with a fun visit from my practice partner, my dog. It’s a playful reminder not to take things too seriously.
As a Sanatani, Bhakti Yoga is very close to my heart. This beautiful rangoli, created with marigold flowers and diyas for a special occasion at the studio, represents the spiritual devotion and therapy that yoga provides for the mind.
About Featured
If you are looking for more than just a quick workout, my studio sessions at Swasthya Yoga Academy focus on alignment and sustainable growth. We use Iyengar-style rope walls and yoga wheels to help you safely deepen your stretches, while our small group batches ensure I can provide hands-on corrections rather than just leading from the front of the room.
My Approach: More Than Just Poses
I don’t see yoga as just a workout; it is a daily practice that connects the mind, body, and soul. Whether you are recovering from an injury or just starting out, my goal is to help you feel steady and comfortable in your posture, as the scriptures say, 'Sthiram Sukham Asanam'.
Because I am a certified nutritionist, I believe that what happens in the kitchen is just as important as what happens on the mat. My programs integrate mindful eating habits with your physical practice to ensure you have lasting energy throughout the day.
What You Can Expect
- In-Studio Practice: Located in Kaggadasapura, our studio is equipped with wooden flooring, mirrors, and specific props like rope walls, blocks, and bolsters. We keep batch sizes small (8 to 12 students) to ensure quality interaction.
- Online Flexibility: If you cannot make it to the studio, my live online sessions on Zoom focus on mat-based flexibility, dynamic Surya Namaskar, and core strengthening. I keep the camera on so I can guide you through alignment corrections in real-time.
- Therapeutic Focus: I offer dedicated 1-on-1 sessions for those dealing with specific pain points, PCOD/PCOS management, or prenatal care. These sessions use chair yoga and restorative techniques to make practice accessible.
Consistency is the Key
Regardless of which style we choose—be it the strength of Ashtanga, the flow of Vinyasa, or the stillness of Restorative Yin—the most important part of your journey is showing up. We start every session with intention and end with pranayama or meditation to ensure you leave the mat feeling lighter and more centered than when you arrived.
