About Kicking & Striking Power
We don't just ask students to kick hard, we teach them exactly where the power comes from. Whether it is a side kick or a roundhouse, we focus on hip rotation and the 'snap' at the end of the movement. You will see our students hitting shields and pads constantly in class because muscle memory matters more than just throwing air kicks.
Power is not just about strength, it is about physics. At Fit and Fight, our Kicking and Striking sessions are designed to move students from basic stances to impactful, high-precision movements. We use a variety of professional equipment, including target mitts, kicking paddles, and heavy shields, to provide immediate feedback on impact and accuracy.
The Importance of Pad Work
Pad work is the core of our conditioning. When a student strikes a shield, they learn to gauge distance and timing. It allows them to practice full-force techniques safely without the risk of injuring a partner. These drills develop the explosive energy required for competitive Kyorugi (sparring) and board breaking demonstrations.
Building the Foundation
Everything we do is built on safe practices. Our hall is equipped with 25mm interlocking EVA foam mats to ensure safety during all drills. We start with basics—fundamental line-work and foot placement—before moving to complex striking combinations. This approach helps shy or restless kids build discipline, and it helps competitive students refine their technique for the mat.
