Specialized Cancer Care Centers
We design oncology facilities that blend clinical excellence with environments built for dignity, recovery, and seamless navigation for patients and medical staff.
The 20-story Punyashlok Ahilyadevi Holkar Head & Neck Cancer Institute stands as a beacon of hope in a dense urban environment. The facade is designed to be a landmark of specialized care, merging advanced medical facilities with a patient-centric approach.
The reception at the Punyashlok Ahilyadevi Holkar Institute is designed to be welcoming and clear. We use clean lines, warm lighting, and art to create a first impression that reduces anxiety and instills confidence in the care journey ahead.
Inside the Punyashlok Ahilyadevi Holkar Institute, we designed a variety of spaces, including this state-of-the-art operating theatre and a comfortable, light-filled patient room. Every detail is considered to support both clinical excellence and patient well-being.
Our holistic approach to cancer care design is evident in the blend of patient-centric spaces and advanced medical facilities. This includes serene recovery rooms and functional meeting spaces that support the institute's mission of providing preventive, promotive, and palliative care.
We believe in merging compassionate care with innovative design. The interior corridors and patient areas are designed to be calm and intuitive, reinforcing a sense of dignity and support throughout the treatment process.

The main lobby of the Ranchi Cancer Hospital and Research Centre features high ceilings, marble floors, and large glass walls that connect the interior to the outdoors. This creates a bright, open, and welcoming atmosphere for arriving patients and visitors.
About this collection
Designing for oncology requires more than standard hospital planning, as it demands the tight integration of high-acuity infrastructure like radiation bunkers and RF shielding with patient-centric circulation. We manage these complex technical requirements alongside circadian lighting and infection-control finishes, ensuring the facility functions flawlessly for clinical teams while remaining a place of dignity and calm for patients.
Our approach to cancer care architecture is grounded in the necessity for both operational efficiency and emotional support. A successful oncology institute must balance rigorous safety standards with an environment that actively reduces patient stress.
We utilize a universal grid system in our master planning, which allows these facilities to scale. This means an outpatient clinic today can expand into a full-scale oncology campus tomorrow without disrupting ongoing treatment. We apply this modular logic to infrastructure, ensuring that high-density technical zones like radiology and chemotherapy departments are future-proofed for new medical equipment.
Inside these centers, we prioritize wayfinding and the 'in-between' spaces. Cancer care can be a long, exhausting journey, so we design corridors and waiting areas that offer natural light and clear, color-coded cues. This reduces anxiety and helps patients navigate the facility with independence. We also collaborate with medical physicists to ensure that the structural design for radiation bunkers and imaging suites meets all safety mandates while keeping clinical workflows efficient. By separating patient, staff, and public zones, we maintain strict infection control protocols while keeping the environment human and accessible.
