Hand-Painted Acrylic Portraits from Your Photographs
Turning your cherished photographs into timeless, hand-painted acrylic canvases that capture the unique emotions behind the image.
This hand-painted family portrait, created from a client's photograph, sought to capture a moment of relaxed joy. My focus was on the warm interactions between family members and their beloved pet, using acrylics to render lifelike expressions and textures.
This video documents the methodical process of creating a portrait, from the foundational layers of acrylic paint to the final, delicate brushstrokes that bring the subject's features to life. It demonstrates how a simple photograph is transformed into a detailed, hand-painted artwork.
In this commissioned couple portrait, I paid special attention to the intricate details of their traditional wedding attire. The richness of the fabric and the precise rendering of the jewelry were essential to honoring the cultural significance of the moment.
Capturing the grace and wisdom of age is a profound artistic challenge. This acrylic on canvas portrait was created to be a lasting tribute, focusing on the subtle expressions that narrate a lifetime of experience.
This piece demonstrates the transformation from a client's photograph to a finished acrylic painting. My process involves reinterpreting the source image, enhancing the lighting, and composing the subject in a way that creates a formal, timeless painted portrait.
The details are where a story resides. In this close-up of a commissioned painting, I meticulously rendered the complex patterns of the mehndi and the texture of the saree, as these elements were deeply meaningful to the subject.
Here I am with a completed 48"x36" couple portrait in my studio. Working on a larger scale allows for a greater depth of detail and creates a significant, impactful piece for a client's home.
About this collection
Because these are hand-painted directly from your images, the quality of the reference photo is crucial. I prefer high-resolution photographs, especially for group portraits, as this allows me to render fine details like skin tones, jewelry, and clothing textures more accurately. We will always have a consultation before I start to review your photos and decide on the best composition for your canvas.
Every commissioned portrait is a process of translation. I do not simply copy a face. My goal is to capture the memory and the specific feeling of the moment within the painting. Using heavy body acrylics on museum-quality cotton canvas, I build the image layer by layer, ensuring the final piece is not only visually accurate but also durable.
I treat every commission as a collaboration. Throughout the 12 to 40 days required for completion, depending on the size and complexity, I provide 2-3 visual progress updates. This ensures the painting is shaping up exactly as you envisioned, from the initial sketch to the final varnish application. For wedding portraits or group commissions, I pay special attention to attire, such as Zari work or embroidery, ensuring these personal elements are preserved in the art.
My practice is built on technical discipline. I use archival-grade, non-yellowing varnish to protect the surface, meaning these paintings are designed to last for generations. Whether you are looking for a classic solo portrait or a 36-by-48 inch family piece that includes pets and detailed environmental backgrounds, each work is signed and comes with a certificate of authenticity.

I paint to hold onto the stories that photos sometimes miss. My work is about patience, taking the time to render the threads of a saree or a specific look in someone's eyes, turning your memories into something you can hold.
