I transform your cherished photographs into timeless acrylic portraits, capturing the specific chemistry and shared moments that define your relationship.
This commissioned painting captures a candid, joyful interaction between a couple. My aim was to freeze this fleeting moment in time, focusing on their expressions and body language.
This painting was created from a photograph of a couple in a snow-covered landscape. The challenge was to render not only their likeness but also the crisp, cool atmosphere of their surroundings.

About this collection
I treat every couple portrait as a study of your unique chemistry, focusing on the subtleties like the way fabric drapes or the specific light in your eyes to ensure the piece feels alive. Before final delivery, I share 2-3 progress updates with you, including the initial sketch and base layers, to ensure every detail, from expressions to background elements, aligns with your vision.
My process begins with a careful consultation to select the best reference photo, as the quality of the source image directly impacts the depth I can achieve. Because I use museum-quality, heavy-body acrylics on gallery-wrapped cotton canvas, these pieces are designed for longevity and clarity. For couple commissions, I pay specific attention to intricate details like Zari work on sarees, the texture of a suit, or the subtle jewelry rendering, ensuring the realism holds up even on larger 24 by 30 inch canvases.
The timeline for a couple portrait typically spans 20 to 25 days. During this period, you will receive visual updates on the sketch, the development of the figures, and the final rendering. I provide a Certificate of Authenticity with every finished commission, documenting the work as an original, hand-painted piece. If you have specific background preferences, such as a scenic outdoor view or a minimalist studio gradient, I work with you to finalize that layout before the painting begins. Every portrait is finished with a non-yellowing archival varnish to protect the surface for years to come.
Pratap Badtya
My foundation lies in the academic rigor of the Sir J.J. School of Art, but my motivation comes from the stories my clients share. I approach every couple's portrait as an exploration of their shared memory, using heavy-body acrylics to render every texture with precision.
