Mastering the 'Short Spine' requires a deep understanding of body mechanics. I teach trainees to guide clients through complex sequences involving plantar flexion, dorsiflexion, and spinal articulation, which are key components of our Pilates anatomy certification.
Here, I am guiding a student through the 'Long Spine' and 'Jackknife' movements. The instruction focuses on precise control, ensuring the carriage does not move while the spine melts down vertebra by vertebra, which is crucial for developing core strength and flexibility.
The 'Stomach Massage' series on the reformer is excellent for core engagement. I teach variations from a rounded spine to a straight spine with twists, explaining how to transfer pressure from the core to the quads and achieve proper ankle movement.
About The STOTT PILATES Method: In-Depth Instruction
When you train with me, we don't just memorize routines. We work in small cohorts of six to eight, meaning you get my direct eyes on your technique for every single move. You will use authentic Merrithew SPX Max Reformers to learn the 'why' behind the biomechanics—like mastering plantar flexion or maintaining a neutral spine during a stomach massage—so you can teach your future clients with absolute confidence.
