Advanced asanas like Sirsasana (headstand) aren't just about balance; they are about building deep core stability and shoulder strength over time. My approach focuses on 'Sthira Sukham Asanam'—meaning steady and comfortable—so you learn to hold these poses without strain, using step-by-step progressions rather than rushing into them.
Trying to jump into advanced postures without the right preparation is often where injuries happen. When we work on inversions in my classes, we don't just focus on the pose itself, but the journey to get there. We spend time strengthening the upper body, opening the shoulders, and stabilizing the core so that when you finally do lift your feet off the ground, you feel steady, not scared.
In my offline sessions at our R.R. Nagar studio, I provide physical hands-on adjustments to ensure your alignment is correct. For those joining my online sessions, we use 'spotlight' feedback. I will watch your posture through the screen and provide verbal cues to fix your alignment in real-time. Whether it's using props like blocks or blankets, or simply learning how to use the wall for support, my goal is to make sure you are progressing safely.
Yoga is a journey of evolution, and advanced postures are simply milestones on that path. It’s okay if you fall, it’s okay if you wobble. We practice holding space for ourselves, breathing through the challenge, and finding that 'Sthira' (steadiness) even when the world feels upside down.
