Move beyond the basics with intensive Jaipur Gharana training. We focus on complex compositions, precise footwork, and command over rhythm right here in West Delhi.

A showcase of advanced technique. Here, one of my senior students performs a complex Chakradar Tihai, demonstrating the mastery of rhythm and form that comes with dedicated practice.

A student performs a Chakradar Paran in Jhaptaal, a 10 beat rhythmic cycle. This composition requires stamina, precision, and a deep understanding of the taal.

Two of my students practicing a Tihai in Chautaal. This shows how they learn to synchronize complex rhythmic patterns together.

A polished solo performance of a Teentaal composition by one of my students. Her confidence and expressive storytelling (abhinaya) are on full display.

Students practicing a Torha in Jhaptaal (10 matra). This composition involves intricate footwork and dynamic movements, building on their foundational skills.

A solo performance of a Tihai in Dhamar Taal. The dancer shows excellent control and grace while executing the complex rhythmic patterns.

Two students performing a Bedam Paran in Teentaal. This type of 'breathless' composition is challenging and showcases their command over speed and rhythm.

A Chakkaradar Tihai in the 16 beat cycle of Teentaal, performed by two dancers in perfect unison. Notice the precision in their spins and footwork.

A young student confidently performs a Jhaptaal Tihai. It's wonderful to see my younger dancers tackling advanced compositions with such skill.

A group of four students from my weekend batch performing a Tihai in Dhamar Taal. Their synchronized movements and energy are fantastic.

About Advanced Kathak: Mastering the Art

At this stage, it is not just about memorizing sequences anymore. We spend our sessions refining the nazaakat (grace) and tehzeeb (finesse) required for high-level compositions. Whether you are struggling to land a clean Chakradar Tihai or want to master the speed of Tatkaar to live tabla, my focus is on correcting your posture and breath control. If you feel like your dance has hit a plateau, this is where we push through it to build real strength and rhythm.

Why Advanced Training Matters

Advanced Kathak is where the discipline of the Jaipur Gharana really takes hold. In these batches, we move away from simple steps and dive into the mechanics of performance. We work on heavy footwork, complex taals like Teentaal, Jhaptaal, and Chautaal, and the nuanced expression of abhinaya.

What We Work On

  • Complex Rhythmic Cycles: We don't just count beats. You will learn to internalize the matras so you can execute Parans and Tihai with absolute precision, even when the tempo is high.
  • Live Tabla Support: You cannot master rhythm without hearing it. I bring in live tabla players for periodic sessions so you learn to respond to the music, not just track the metronome.
  • Technical Integrity: I will ask you to check your chakkars and tatkaar alignment constantly. My studio in Paschim Vihar has full-length mirrors for a reason. You need to see your mistakes to fix them.

Who This Is For

This is for the student who is serious. Whether you are prepping for an exam or just want to gain the confidence to perform a solo, this is a space for those who want to commit. You will sweat, you will get frustrated when the rhythm doesn't land, and then you will get it right. That breakthrough is exactly what we are here for.
