Join our creative sanctuary in Hebbal, Mysore. Whether you want to master plant-based colors, upcycle your wardrobe, or just find a community that cares about the earth, our doors are open.

Our space extends beyond textiles. Here, artist Flavien Colfer creates a stunning mural on our building using our natural wall colors, followed by a fun eco-painting workshop for the community.

We believe in using fashion to demand sustainable progress. This is an invitation to join us for a community event where we explore how our choices can create a better future, one garment at a time.

Join us to celebrate the Earth by creating something beautiful and kind. This poster invites you to a special weekend experience where you can upcycle a garment with natural dyes and even flaunt it in a fashion show.

Our 'Unusual Narratives' series features inspiring talks from members of our community. This invitation is for a coffee and conversation with a former intern who is now building her own natural-dye lifestyle brand.

We host events that open up the mind and foster empathy, like this Playback Theatre session. It's a powerful way to understand different perspectives through improvisational exercises and community storytelling.

Water is our mascot, and natural dye is our solution to pollution in fashion. We were grateful to host this enlightening evening on World Water Day in collaboration with several local environmental and arts organizations.

A look back at one of our amazing community events. We are so grateful for the solidarity of our collaborators and everyone who came to hold space for truth, reflection, and conversations about a sustainable future.

About this collection

Most of our workshops are designed as 'unlearning' sessions. We start with the basics of natural mordants and plant-based pigments, but the real magic happens when you let go of perfection. Whether you are joining us for a weekend eco-printing session or a mentorship slot, our Hebbal studio provides the vats, heating systems, and safe waste protocols you need to experiment without worrying about the footprint you leave behind.

At Color Ashram, we believe that creativity is a practice, not just a product. Our workshops in Hebbal, Mysore, move away from rigid, industrial standards. We invite you to reconnect with the soil, the water, and your own hands.

What You Can Experience

  • Eco-Printing & Natural Dyeing: Learn to extract color from waste flowers, roots, and minerals. We cover everything from traditional batik to contemporary leaf impression techniques.
  • Unusual Narratives: Our community events often feature artist jams and storytelling sessions. We are not just a studio; we are a hub for ecological conversation.
  • The 'Unlearning' Process: If you are a designer or an artist used to chemical dyes, our mentors help you transition to non-toxic methods. We focus on design feasibility, color recipes, and building a conscious brand.

Why Join Us?

You get full access to our natural dye lab, padded printing tables, and outdoor drying lines. Whether you are a local resident, a traveler, or an aspiring entrepreneur, our makerspace is designed to facilitate real projects. If you have an old garment that needs a second life, bring it to our upcycling workshops. We provide the tools, the safe dyes, and the guidance to turn what was once 'waste' into a piece of art you will actually wear.

We keep our group sizes intimate to ensure everyone gets hands-on time with the vats. Come with curiosity—that is the only prerequisite.

I am Namrita, and I started this space because I saw so many artists struggling to make their creative passion sustainable. We are not a stuffy academy. We are a bunch of nature lovers, travelers, and makers who believe that color should be kind to the planet.
