Architecture is a constant conversation. We step outside our studio to learn from master craftsmen and explore new material technologies, bringing global insights back to our residential projects in Mumbai and beyond.

We had an incredible visit to the studio of George Nakashima, a master woodworker whose legacy continues to inspire us. The quiet beauty of the work and the place is a powerful reminder of the deep connection between craft, material, and soul.

The workshop of Nakashima Woodworkers is a library of timber. The sheer volume and variety of wood, collected and stored with care over decades, is a testament to a profound respect for the material.

Exploring the wood storage building at the Nakashima studio. Being surrounded by these massive, raw slabs of wood, each with its own history and potential, is a deeply humbling and inspiring experience.

A pair of book-matched walnut slabs at the Nakashima workshop, waiting to be transformed into a masterpiece. This visit reaffirmed our belief in letting the natural beauty of the material guide the design.

We spent a few days with BC Architects & Studies in their workshop, learning about contemporary earth construction. Their innovative techniques for earth plasters, compressed blocks, and rammed earth are a great source of inspiration.

The material library at the studio of BC Materials. Their systematic approach to testing and cataloging different earth compositions is something we are excited to bring to our own practice in India.

Observing the application of sprayed earth plaster at a workshop with Leem Works. We are always seeking to learn about new sustainable technologies and how they can be adapted to our local context.

We had the pleasure of designing the 'FOUND | FORMED' exhibition for Studio Renn. This close-up shows the delicate jewelry displayed on a landscape of raw cotton, creating a dialogue between the found and the formed.

The completed exhibition we designed and produced for the India Art Fair. We used bales of raw kala cotton and bamboo to create a transient, textured landscape that re-imagined the display of collectible design.

About Inspirations & Collaborations

When we collaborate with global experts or study traditional joinery, it is not just for inspiration. It is research that directly informs how we build your home. Whether we are adapting sustainable earth plaster techniques from partners like BC Materials or applying lessons from master woodworkers to your custom cabinetry, these collaborations exist to bring more durability and honest texture to your living spaces.
