About Supported Practice: Yoga with Props
You will hear me say 'Ruko' (hold) a lot in these sessions. We use props like wall ropes, chairs, and blocks not just for comfort, but to allow you to stay in an asana long enough for your muscles to actually lengthen and release. It is about precision and finding the right geometry, not speed, so expect to move slower than you might be used to.
Why we use props
People often think props are just for beginners or those working through an injury, but that is not the case. Even advanced practitioners use ropes, blocks, and chairs to find deeper alignment and create space in the joints. When you use a wall rope for traction, you are not just hanging; you are decompressing the spine, which is essential if you spend your day sitting at a desk.
Our setup in Santacruz
In my studio, we have a dedicated rope wall and high-quality chairs. We do not focus on fast, sweaty flows here. Instead, we use these tools to hold poses for longer durations. This builds endurance in the muscles and trains your brain to understand exactly where your body is in space. It is disciplined, quiet work.
Finding your pace
I keep batch sizes small, usually 10 to 15 students. This allows me to walk around and actually give hands-on adjustments. If you are coming in for orthopedic or cardiac recovery, we will move even slower, focusing entirely on gentle support and safety. Thoda time lagega (it will take some time), but that is exactly how you build a practice that lasts.
Body Temple Yoga Studio
I am Abhishek Khurana. I believe your body is your temple, and my job is to help you take care of it with patience and precision. We do not rush here; we build strength and stability together using props, one breath at a time.
