Playful Yoga and Athletic Skills for Kids

Movement should be pure joy. My sessions for children blend storytelling with yoga and athletic drills to build balance, focus, and confidence—no pressure, just fun.

Teaching kids is so rewarding because they are fearless and ready to try anything. Here, I am safely guiding a young student into a headstand variation, helping her build confidence, strength, and focus in a fun, supportive way.

Look at the focus in this kids' yoga class as they hold a downward dog pose. We make it fun, but we are also building the basics of strength, flexibility, and body control that will help them in any sport they choose later on.

I love the energy of my kids' classes, where we work on everything from core strength to fun backbends. It's amazing to see them get stronger and more flexible each week, all while having a great time on the mat.

It's not just about yoga; it's about the joy of play. I'm bringing traditional games like kho-kho to our kids' fitness sessions to encourage teamwork, agility, and strategic thinking in a fun, active setting.

Movement for the little ones should be pure fun. This little one is learning coordination and rhythm with a hula hoop, a simple and joyful activity that builds core awareness and balance.

Our BBR program helps young athletes discover their potential. These two boys are pacing each other during a run, learning about endurance, friendly competition, and the power of having a teammate by your side.

This is our BBR crew, a fantastic group of kids and parents who show up every Sunday for an energizing session. We are building a community around fitness, where families can get active and have fun together.

About this collection

Parents often ask if 3-8 year olds can really do yoga. It doesn't look like a quiet adult class; it looks like a game of tag that shifts into a balancing pose. I use storytelling and animal flows to build their coordination and core strength, making the practice feel like a game rather than a workout.

When teaching kids, the goal isn't perfect alignment. It's about building a positive relationship with movement that lasts a lifetime. In my sessions, we focus on what the body can do rather than how it looks. We start with the basics—balance, coordination, and agility—using games and play so the children stay engaged for the full 45 to 60 minutes.

Why the BBR Approach?

Beyond traditional yoga poses, I integrate drills from our BBR (Barefoot Runners) community. Whether it is a game of kho-kho or simple running relays, we introduce foundational athletic skills in a team environment. This helps children develop discipline, teamwork, and the physical awareness they need for any sport they might want to pursue later, from football to cricket.

What happens in class?

  • Yoga through Stories: We use animal flows and imaginative play to teach poses, which helps with flexibility and hip health.
  • Athletic Drills: We practice falling safely, jumping, and sprinting to improve motor skills.
  • Digital Detox: These sessions are a guaranteed hour of screen-free time where kids get to burn off energy and learn social skills in a supportive, non-competitive group.

Classes are held in indoor community halls in Bellandur and HSR Layout, ensuring a safe, consistent space for the kids to show up and sweat together. I keep the batches small, usually 15+ kids, so I can keep an eye on everyone and ensure they are moving correctly.

I’m a mom of two and a firm believer that active kids are happy kids. I don't just teach poses; I create a space where your little one learns to love moving their body, whether we're practicing a balance pose or playing a game of kho-kho.
