Practical Self-Defense Training for Women
Learn real, actionable self-defense skills that work when you need them. Whether you are looking for a weekend boot camp or group training, our Bangalore sessions focus on confidence, awareness, and simple techniques that help you feel safe.
A powerful moment from our Women's Day training session. We focus on building strength and technique, ensuring every woman feels capable and prepared.
In our dojo, sparring is a key part of learning. Here, our female students practice Kumite in a controlled, supportive environment, honing their reflexes and technique.
This is what real empowerment looks like. We teach practical throws and escapes that you can use to defend yourself, building your confidence with every single session.
One of the first things I teach is how to escape a simple wrist grab. Self-defense is not about complex moves; it is about simple, effective techniques that work when you need them most.
The focus and discipline of a Kumite competition. I am incredibly proud to see our students, like Nousheen and Meghana, showcase their skills and spirit on the competition mat.
About Self-Defense for Women
We do not teach movie-style stunts that require years of flexibility. In our sessions, we focus on gross-motor moves, like palm strikes, elbow strikes, and escaping wrist grabs, that you can pull off even in formal wear or sarees. It is about simple, high-impact muscle memory that holds up when adrenaline hits.
Why Our Approach Works
Many self-defense programs overwhelm students with complex forms. At Bangalore Budokan, we strip it back. You will practice drills specifically designed for real-world scenarios, such as dupatta strangulation, wall pins, ground pins, and chain-snatching attempts. We believe that if you cannot perform a move while stressed or wearing daily clothing, it is not a useful technique.
What You Will Experience
Our training environment is safe and supportive. We intentionally keep our intensive crash course batches small, with 10 to 20 participants, so you get direct corrections from me and my senior instructors. You will train barefoot on mats to simulate stability and grounding, and we use kicking shields to help you understand the force required to disable an attacker.
Our Training Modules
- Theory: We spend 30 minutes understanding the physiology of the fight or flight response and practicing situational awareness.
- Practical Defense: We cover releases from common grabs and chokes, adapted for everyday reality.
- Striking: We teach targeting vulnerable points like the eyes, throat, and groin using palm heels rather than knuckles, which reduces the risk of injuring your own hand.
Whether you are joining us for our dedicated women's workshops in March or booking a private session for your community at your clubhouse, the goal remains the same: you should leave feeling more alert, more confident, and less like a target.
