About Wellness for Educational Institutions
I don't just teach asanas; I adapt sessions for the academic environment. Whether it is 'Hasyayog' (Laughter Yoga) to burst exam anxiety in 15 minutes or simple breathing techniques to settle a restless assembly, my sessions are designed to be practical. We work with the space you have—no mats needed, just a bit of enthusiasm.
Educational institutions are high-pressure environments where both students and teachers carry immense mental and physical load. My approach is to make wellness accessible and engaging, rather than just another lecture.
Why Schools Need Dedicated Wellness
From my experience working with institutions like DIET and various MCD schools, I have seen how a short 60-minute session can completely reset the energy in a classroom. Academic stress often manifests as restlessness in students and burnout in teachers. My sessions offer:
- Stress Relief Modules: Techniques to manage pre-exam anxiety using pranayama (breathwork) and mindfulness.
- Energy Management: Hasyayog (Laughter Yoga) sessions that are perfect for breaking the monotony of long study hours.
- Teacher Wellness: Focused sessions on posture correction (addressing 'Tech-Neck' from grading and screen time) and restorative breathing.
My Approach in the Classroom
I understand that schools have space constraints and limited time. That is why my modules are flexible:
- No Equipment Needed: Most of my school-based programs are designed to be done in classrooms using chairs or just standing space.
- Bilingual Delivery: I teach in both Hindi and English to ensure every student, regardless of their background, can follow the instructions and feel comfortable.
- Engagement-First: I use traditional chants like the Gayatri Mantra to create a focused, calm atmosphere, but I keep the physical movements fun to ensure students stay engaged.
Whether it is a one-off awareness workshop for International Yoga Day or a recurring program to build healthy habits, my goal is to give students tools they can use for life. 'Pehla sukh nirogi kaya' (First happiness is health) is a lesson that is best learned young.
