Wheel & Prop-Assisted Yoga Classes in Delhi & Gurugram
Props are essential tools, not signs of weakness. Whether you are working on flexibility or advanced inversions, we use wheels, blocks, and straps to help you find the correct alignment and safely deepen your practice.
This video demonstrates how a yoga wheel can be used to add a dynamic challenge to a handstand. The rolling motion requires incredible core control and balance.
The yoga wheel provides excellent support for the back in this forearm stand, or Pincha Mayurasana. It helps the student to find the correct alignment for a deep and safe backbend.
A student gracefully transitions into a Scorpion Pose using the yoga wheel for support. This shows how props can be integrated into a flowing practice to achieve advanced asanas.
This is a dynamic entry into a forearm stand using the yoga wheel. The prop helps guide the body into the inversion and provides a stable point of contact for the backbend.
Here, a student uses yoga blocks for support to deepen their Dhanurasana (Bow Pose). Props allow us to hold poses longer and work on flexibility with proper alignment.
Blocks are an invaluable tool for opening the shoulders and upper back. With the help of instructors, this student is able to achieve a deep, restorative stretch safely.
A partner pose using the yoga wheel to support a deep backbend. This is a wonderful way to open the spine while connecting with a fellow practitioner.
A group of students using yoga wheels to assist in a standing split variation. This shows the versatility of props in a group class setting for all levels.
This advanced hip-opening pose, Supta Kurmasana, is being explored with the help of a bamboo stick. Props can be used creatively to find new depths in your practice.
A student uses the yoga wheel to roll into a deep backbend, touching her head to her feet. The wheel provides continuous support along the spine, making the pose more accessible.
About Wheel & Prop-Assisted Yoga
In my studio, I teach that props are not just for beginners. We use the yoga wheel to develop deep core control and stability, turning it into a base for advanced handstands or a support for safe, restorative backbends. This hands-on approach allows us to refine your form and build confidence in challenging asanas without the risk of injury.
Our Philosophy on Props
Many students mistakenly believe that using blocks, straps, or wheels implies a lack of strength. In the tradition of Hatha yoga, we view these as extensions of the body—'sab dost hain' (they are all friends). They help you achieve the full expression of an asana when your body is not yet ready to do so alone. By using a prop, you maintain proper alignment, which prevents strain and allows the muscle groups to open gradually and safely.
The Yoga Wheel and Beyond
We utilize the yoga wheel specifically to open the thoracic spine and shoulders, areas that get tight from modern desk work. In my advanced classes, we use these wheels to transition into inversions like Scorpion Pose or forearm stands. This builds the stability needed to progress. Similarly, we use wall ropes and bamboo sticks for deep stretching and alignment correction, ensuring that every session leaves you feeling lighter and more mobile.
Hands-on Guidance
Yoga is a practice of self-discovery, but it requires correct guidance. In both our New Rajinder Nagar studio in Delhi and our centers in DLF Phase 4 and Sector 57, Gurugram, you will find me and my team providing active, hands-on adjustments. If a pose is not suitable for your current state, I will guide you to a variation. We practice with discipline, ensuring that every student progresses at their own pace, free from shame or comparison. Whether you are a beginner using a block for stability or an advanced student using a wheel for deep backbends, our goal remains the same: a steady, peaceful, and strong body.
