Residential Architecture Projects
Explore a collection of our residential work, from rustic farmhouses to compact holiday retreats, built with an emphasis on locally sourced materials and site-specific planning.
The entrance to the NallaNela farmhouse, a rustic weekend home built with exposed brick. The design features a welcoming covered porch and a simple, functional layout for family getaways.
The patio of the NallaNela farmhouse, paved with dark stone tiles. The brick walls and large glass doors create a simple, durable, and low-maintenance home that connects with its rural surroundings.
The central courtyard of the NallaNela farmhouse is a simple, open space for family activities. A rain chain, a traditional element, guides water from the roof to the ground in a visually pleasing way.
The covered veranda at the NallaNela farmhouse provides a shaded space to sit and relax. The dark stone steps and flooring contrast with the warm tones of the brick walls.
An interior view from the NallaNela farmhouse, looking out through the grilled windows. The decor is kept simple and rustic, in line with the home's purpose as a relaxed country retreat.
A view of the brick jali wall and a side entrance at the NallaNela farmhouse. The perforated brickwork allows for ventilation while maintaining privacy.
The exterior of a compact holiday home we designed in Mangalore. The design uses a combination of laterite stone, a cement-plastered base, and a traditional tiled roof.
About this collection
In projects like the NallaNela farmhouse, we utilized exposed brick jali walls to facilitate natural cross-ventilation. This method allows airflow throughout the living areas while maintaining necessary privacy, reducing the reliance on artificial cooling. We apply this site-specific logic to all our residential work, ensuring each home responds intelligently to its local climate and surroundings.
Our residential design approach centers on the dialogue between architecture and its site. Whether we are planning a weekend farmhouse on the outskirts of Bangalore or a compact holiday residence in Mangalore, the core principle remains consistent: material honesty. We favor Kota stone for its thermal properties, Mangalore tiles for roofing, and exposed brick for structural durability.
Our process begins with a detailed site context analysis. We map sun paths to optimize for natural light and study soil conditions to determine foundation requirements. For clients seeking residential design, we provide end-to-end documentation, including structural coordination for cantilevers and fabrication details for custom window grids. This ensures the vision we develop in 3D visualization translates accurately into the finished build. By integrating sustainable practices like upcycling and respecting existing site features, we create homes that feel rooted rather than imposed on the landscape.
