Residential Sanctuaries: Earthy and Soulful Home Designs
I create living spaces that feel rooted in nature, using raw materials like exposed brick and concrete to build homes that are honest, low-maintenance, and timeless.
This master bedroom concept was designed for a couple who wanted a space reflecting Indian ethnicity without fancy materials. The room features a classic four poster bed, concrete flooring, and a tropical-themed wall illustration, creating a bohemian and personal sanctuary.
A render of a contemporary family room where textures and natural finishes take center stage. The design combines clean lines, warm wood veneers, and tactile fabrics to create a comfortable and sophisticated space for family gatherings.
An empty room in a farmhouse project, highlighting the core architectural elements. The rich, earthy oxide flooring contrasts with the white textured walls and the dark green door, creating a simple yet characterful space.
An interior view of a private farmhouse project, showcasing a minimalist aesthetic. The space is defined by its clean lines, an earthy oxide floor, and a large window that fills the room with natural light, creating a serene connection with the outdoors.
This corner of a farmhouse shows my principle of using honest materials. A rustic sliding barn door made of natural wood is set against a wall of exposed stone and concrete, creating a raw, textural, and authentic feel.
Another view of the farmhouse interior, focusing on the interplay of materials. The rough texture of the stone foundation contrasts with the smooth, white paneled wall and the warm tones of the wooden barn door.
A detail from a farmhouse project emphasizing texture and light. The ribbed ceiling creates a dynamic play of shadows, while the gridded window frames the view of the surrounding nature, demonstrating how material choices can define a space.
This shot from a private farmhouse captures the essence of living with nature. The design prioritizes locally sourced materials and minimal waste, resulting in an earthy and sustainable weekend home.
About Residential Sanctuaries
My approach to residential design is about reducing the reliance on unnecessary finishing materials. Instead of covering walls with paint or synthetic tiles, I focus on the structural honesty of exposed brick, oxide floors, and Kota stone. This not only lowers maintenance costs over time but also ensures your space ages gracefully, developing character rather than wearing out like modern synthetic finishes.
Designing for Daily Life
A home should breathe. Whether it is a weekend farmhouse or an apartment in the city, my design process starts by analyzing the site's sun-path and wind direction. This allows me to integrate features like courtyards and skylights that naturally regulate temperature and bring light into the core of your living space.
The Honesty of Materials
I believe that the foundation of a great home is its materiality. By using Kota stone, oxide flooring, and wire-cut bricks, I create a tactile environment that feels grounded. These choices are deliberate:
- Durability: Materials that do not need frequent repairs or repainting.
- Thermal Comfort: Natural stone and brick help keep interiors cool and comfortable.
- Sustainability: Reducing the need for factory-finished boards and chemical-heavy paints.
My Process
My work spans the entire journey, from the initial Bhoomi Pooja to the final structural finishes. I focus on 'simple floor plates but complex spaces,' ensuring that even a compact layout feels open and airy. I provide end-to-end architectural design, including structural consultancy for filler slabs and cantilevered spaces, as well as full turnkey execution if you prefer a single point of contact for your civil and interior works. If you are building a weekend getaway or renovating your residence, let us discuss how to make it a space that truly feels like yours.
