My Personal Yoga Practice and Philosophy
I believe that a teacher must first be a dedicated student. Here is a glimpse into the principles and daily practices that shape my life and my teachings at Amritam Yog Foundation.
My personal practice is the foundation of my teaching. Here I am in Upavistha Konasana (Wide-Angled Seated Forward Bend), a deep stretching pose that requires patience and consistent practice, principles I encourage in all my students.
In this short video, I share a simple but profound thought: "Put strength in your words, not your voice, because crops grow from rain, not from floods." This reflects the yogic principle of gentle, persistent effort over forceful action.
Here, I offer a message on the power of forgiveness as a tool for inner peace and happiness. As I explain in the video, letting go of ego and embracing forgiveness is a practice that can transform our lives and relationships.
This video introduces the Amritam Yoga Foundation and our guiding principle: 'Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam', the world is one family. This ancient belief is at the heart of everything I do, reminding us that we are all connected in our journey towards well-being.
About My Personal Practice & Philosophy
Before I guide anyone else, I practice these sequences and principles myself. Whether it is the patience required for deep asanas like Upavistha Konasana or the mental clarity cultivated through daily meditation, my teaching comes directly from my own ongoing sadhana. You are not just learning techniques here; you are learning a way of life that I personally test and live every single day.
Authentic yoga is not merely a physical exercise; it is the union of body, mind, and soul. My journey began at Gurukul Kangri Vishwavidyalaya, Haridwar, where I learned that true knowledge is something to be shared, not hoarded. This philosophy drives everything I do at the Amritam Yog Foundation.
The Practice Behind the Teaching
My daily practice serves as a laboratory. When I encourage you to hold a pose or focus on your breath, it is because I have experienced the benefits firsthand. Take the Upavistha Konasana shown in my practice photos; this is not just about stretching the hamstrings. It requires a calm mind and consistent effort, which are the exact qualities I try to instill in my students.
Core Principles of My Approach
- Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam: I view every student as family. This is why I focus on accessibility, ensuring that whether you are a beginner or looking to deepen your practice, you feel at home.
- Gentle Effort: As I often say, 'Strength is in your words, not your voice.' My sessions are designed to cultivate internal growth rather than forcing external results. We avoid competitive environments because we want to foster community.
- Holistic Healing: Yoga and Ayurveda are two sides of the same coin. I integrate insights into digestion, sleep, and mental peace into our yoga training, ensuring you walk away with tools for daily living, not just a workout.
If you are looking for a teacher who values the traditional path while keeping the practice grounded in modern reality, you are in the right place. My goal is to guide you toward a healthier, more peaceful life through authentic yogic philosophy.
