Biophilic Meeting Pods and Outdoor Workspaces
We move beyond standard boardrooms to create outdoor meeting spaces that work with the sun and wind. These pods provide a comfortable, nature-integrated environment for collaboration, engineered to stay cool naturally.
This image breaks down the context-inspired materials used for the formal meeting zone. The design incorporates clay roofing tiles, an exposed MS truss, and external glazing, all chosen to harmonize with the surrounding environment and ensure durability.
The informal meeting zone is designed around a mature tree, making it a central feature. This space encourages spontaneous collaboration and relaxation, with a zone-dividing element that provides a subtle separation from the more formal areas.
This diagram shows the zoning strategy for the meeting pods. I created distinct zones for formal and informal meetings, along with expandable spill-out spaces. The structure on the right is designed with a roof for solar panels, integrating renewable energy into the project.
Climate analysis is fundamental to my design process. This graphic shows how the meeting pod is oriented based on planetary winds and temperature graphs for the location. The hottest wall is identified and reinforced to ensure thermal comfort inside.
A detailed site analysis showing the building footprint in relation to sun paths and wind patterns throughout the year. This data-driven approach allows me to optimize the building's orientation for natural light and passive ventilation.
This composite image combines a render of the green-walled formal meeting space with my initial planning sketches. It provides a glimpse into my design process, moving from simple spatial diagrams to a fully realized architectural concept.
About Biophilic Workspaces: The Meeting Pods
These pods are not just shaded structures; they are climate-responsive tools. We analyze the specific sun paths and wind patterns of your office site before placing a single pillar. By reinforcing the structure's hottest wall and promoting cross-ventilation, we ensure these outdoor zones remain comfortable for meetings, even during Bengaluru's warmer afternoons.
Designing a workspace that lives outside is a challenge of balance. You need the openness of nature without the discomfort of direct heat. Our approach to biophilic pods starts with data—before we draw a line, we map how the sun moves across your plot and how local winds behave. This allows us to orient the structure for maximum passive cooling.
Materiality is the next layer. We use clay roofing tiles for their thermal properties and exposed MS trusses for structural honesty. The walls are not just vertical planes; they are green screens that filter harsh light and cool the incoming breeze. We also integrate functional solar roofs where possible, turning your meeting space into a small-scale energy generator.
Internally, we treat the pod as a flexible zone. We lay out distinct areas for formal meetings and informal brainstorming, separated by permeable dividers that maintain a sense of openness. Whether it is a quiet spot under a mature tree or a fully equipped outdoor conference pod, the goal is to make the work environment feel like a natural extension of the landscape, not an intrusion upon it.
