Rooftop Garden & Terrace Transformation
Hardscaping & Civil Work
- Flooring: Installation of drainage cells followed by a mix of high-density Artificial Turf (35mm) and outdoor-grade tiling (Terracotta/anti-skid ceramic) or WPC decking in seating zones.
- Overhead Structure: Custom fabricated Mild Steel (MS) pergola with metal slats. Includes heat-insulated Puff Sheets or Polycarbonate roofing to reduce solar heat gain.
- Built-in Furniture: Construction of permanent masonry seating ledges capped with polished Granite slabs (Jet Black or Sadarahalli) along parapet walls.
Softscaping (Planting)
- Green Barriers: High-density shrub planting along parapet walls for wind barriers and privacy.
- Soil System: Lightweight potting mix (cocopeat, perlite, vermicompost) to prevent structural load on the slab.
- Plant Selection: Mix of hardy, sun-tolerant ornamental plants like Plumeria, Areca Palms, and Heliconia.
Utilities & Decor
- Lighting: Electrical grid layout with weather-proof pendant lights for the pergola and foot-lights for seating areas.
- Waterproofing: Spot waterproofing checks for planter areas.
- Design Fee: Includes layout planning, 3D visualization, and material selection.

Ecosystem Engineering
- Water Conservation: Comprehensive Rainwater Harvesting (RWH) strategy including surface runoff collection and recharge pits with filtration media (jelly, coal, sand).
- Soil Preparation: Deep tilling, debris removal, and enrichment of existing soil with organic manure.
Softscaping Strategy
- 3-Tier Planting: Tall native trees for shade, medium-height shrubs for privacy screening (natural walls), and ground cover.
- Species: 90% Native species selection tailored to local climate for drought resistance.
- Turfing: Laying of shade-tolerant grass varieties like Mexican or Buffalo grass.
Hardscaping Elements
- Pathways: Layout of stepping stones (flamed Granite or rough Tandur stone) with grass joints for water percolation.
- Edging: River stone or pebble borders for drainage and definition.
Technical Inclusions
- Irrigation: Automated or semi-automated drip irrigation network for shrub lines.
- Design: Site analysis for sun-path and wind direction.
Poolside Decking & Privacy Hardscape
Decking & Paving
- Material: High-grade, anti-skid stone paving (Flamed Sadarahalli Granite, Kota, or Limestone) laid in linear patterns.
- Detailing: Grass joints between slabs to soften the look and aid drainage.
- Coping: Custom-cut, rounded-edge stone coping for the pool rim using Lapato finish for a smooth touch.
Privacy & Acoustics
- Green Buffer: High-density planting of tall, sound-absorbing hedges (Ficus or Cypress) to create visual and acoustic barriers.
- Level Modulation: Creation of subtle level shifts or raised planter beds to define zones without walls.
Finishing Touches
- Drainage: Concealed slot drains or pebble-filled drainage channels to keep the deck dry.
- Lighting: Recessed floor lights or low-height bollards to illuminate the pool deck without glare.
- Decorative: River-washed pebbles in transition zones between deck and garden.

Our Design Philosophy
I see landscape design as a way to tell stories using nature. My goal is to make the outdoors and indoors blend so well that you barely notice the boundary. Everything - light, wind, shade - plays a role in bringing your space to life.
From Private Gardens to City Squares
I take on projects of every size, from cozy terrace gardens to big community masterplans. Whether it’s a home, a plaza, or an entire neighborhood, I want nature and design to work together. For urban plaza design, I add features like sculptural kiosks with rooftop greenery, organic seating that fits the landscape, and a mix of materials - IPE wood, aluminum - for a tactile feel.
Designing Sustainable Ecosystems
Transforming empty land into green, self-sustaining spaces is something I love. On a recent two-acre project, I put in rainwater harvesting for gardens, recharge pits, and let local plants take over. That land now manages without outside water. Even a rescued roadside tree now towers over the site.
Personal Outdoor Retreats
I help you carve out your own outdoor retreat ideas at home. Poolsides get layered plants and terrain shifts for privacy. Rooftops use pergolas and ledges for flexible hangouts. Central courtyards bring light and nature inside, and sometimes, I sneak in a kitchen garden.

My Story
Hey, we’re Ambica and Jhashank from Studio Wight. For us, architecture’s not just walls and roofs, it’s the vibe you get walking in—be it a playful Anganwadi school or a modern villa with crazy light and shadow play. One day we’re deep in Nalukettu house design (Kerala style, so much Vastu), next day, we’re sketching mushroom labs.
