The Architect's Studio: A Cave of Creation
This isn't just an office. It is a living prototype of my raw luxury philosophy, where hand-sculpted walls meet organic design to create a sanctuary for creativity.
The transformation of my studio space. This before-and-after video shows how a standard rectangular room was completely reshaped into an organic, cave-like environment with sculpted walls, unique lighting, and custom terrazzo flooring.
A walkthrough of the finished studio. You can see how the different areas flow into one another, from the main workspace with its large communal desk to the arched entryway leading to a pantry. The entire space is designed to feel like a single, sculpted form.
An early concept render for my studio, which I called the "designer's den." This visualization was the starting point for creating a modern yet primal workspace, with smooth floors contrasting against the rough, cavernous walls and ceiling.
This video shows the journey from a simple sketch to the final built form of a corner in my studio. It captures the first glimpse of the textured walls and the custom-designed furniture, revealing how an idea on paper becomes a tangible reality.
About this collection
When you visit my studio, you are not seeing a polished showroom. You are stepping into the actual workshop where my ideas take shape. Every curved wall and custom textural finish here is something I applied by hand, testing the limits of materials like lime wash and micro-cement long before I ever suggest them for a client's home. It is my way of ensuring that the raw luxury I promise is a standard I have lived in and refined myself.
Why did I build a cave? Because architecture should not be rigid or flat. This studio proves that space can feel organic, flowing, and alive. I wanted to move away from the sterile lines of traditional workspaces and create a sanctuary that invites actual creative thought.
A Lab for Raw Luxury
This space is the heart of our design and build method. We handled everything here—from the structural floor leveling to the intricate, hand-sculpted ceiling. When we discuss your home, I use this environment to demonstrate how light plays off textured walls and how different floor materials feel underfoot. It is not about showing you a digital render; it is about showing you the real, tangible material.
The Materials We Use
Everything you see here is a preview of the quality we bring to your projects. You will find:
- Hand-applied finishes: Lime wash and micro-cement for that soft, earthy warmth.
- Seamless Flooring: Terrazzo and micro-concrete that flow without harsh visual breaks.
- Biophilic Lighting: Cove lights that mimic natural diffusion, creating a soft, calming mood.
This is where I find my 'sukh and sukoon' (peace), and it is the same feeling I aim to replicate in your living room or bedroom. Whether you are looking for Japandi-inspired minimalism or a more dramatic, moody interior, my studio is proof that with the right raw materials, we can sculpt a space that truly breathes.
Aavyaktaya Architects
I'm Akshay, and I believe architecture is about the feeling you get when you step through the door. My studio is my playground where I test every technique, from lime wash walls to custom joinery, so I know exactly how it ages and breathes. If you want a space that feels like it was grown rather than just built, let's talk.
