Serene Living and Sleeping Spaces: Zen-Inspired Home Design
My design approach is about creating a sense of 'sukh and sukoon' in your everyday life. Whether it is a minimalist Zen living room or a cozy, boho-inspired bedroom, I focus on natural materials, warm lighting, and layouts that let your home breathe.
A closer look at the suspended dining bench, a feature I designed to be both functional and artistic. The solid wood posts anchor the floating table, creating a unique focal point in this Zen-inspired home.
This shot from the live-edge dining table looks out into the main corridor, showing how the spaces connect. The polished marble floor reflects the light beautifully, contrasting with the warm wood of the dining area and creating a seamless flow.
An expansive living room designed for openness and flow. The glossy marble floor reflects the custom wall lighting and sculptural ceiling fans, making the space feel vast and airy. This is a canvas waiting for life, designed with minimalism to maximize the feeling of calm.
This bedroom design focuses on a soothing, neutral palette of beige, white, and wood. The upholstered headboard and warm pendant lights create a cozy and inviting atmosphere, while the wood paneling adds texture and warmth.

For this guest room, I designed a custom mural as the main feature behind the bed. The abstract botanical pattern, framed by integrated LED lighting, turns the wall into a piece of art. The room is designed to be flexible and welcoming, a quiet space for stillness.

About this collection
You won't find cookie-cutter catalogs here. When I design your living room or bedroom, I look at how the light hits your specific space and where the breeze flows. We use materials like lime wash, exposed brick, and raw wood to create texture that you actually want to touch. This is about making a room that doesn't just look good in photos, but makes you want to exhale the moment you walk through the door.
Architecture That Breathes
I believe architecture should not scream for attention. Following the philosophy of masters like Tadao Ando, I design spaces that stay silent and let nature in through sunlight and wind. My projects in Delhi and across India focus on biophilic principles, blurring the line between your indoor sanctuary and the outside world.
My Approach to Serenity
- Zen & Japandi Fusion: I blend Scandinavian simplicity with Japanese calm. Think low-profile furniture, curved organic shapes, and a palette of soft whites, warm wood, and stone.
- Raw Materiality: I avoid synthetic plastic finishes. I prefer lime wash, micro-cement, and solid, live-edge wood. These materials age gracefully and provide a tactile, grounded feeling.
- Lighting as Ambiance: Lighting is never just about brightness. I use magnetic track lights, cove provisions, and custom warm LEDs to set a mood that changes from day to night.
The Design and Build Reality
When we work together, you get the whole package. I handle the plans, the civil work, and the interior details. You will often find me on-site, knees dusty, tweaking a wall texture or checking the finish on a custom wood joint. Because I manage the execution directly, your dream does not get lost in translation. Whether it is a mother's bedroom with a private garden view or a living room with an arched pooja nook, every corner is built to tell a story.
Aavyaktaya Architects
I’m Akshay, and for me, architecture is that tingling sense of excitement when a space finally feels like home. I spend my days with dusty knees on-site, layering gold leaf and carving wood, because the best details are the ones made by hand. My goal is to build you a space that’s not just a house, but a sanctuary where you can truly be yourself.
