Behind the Design: Our Process and Studio
Step inside our world. From rough sketches and site experiments to the art that inspires our work, this is how we translate ideas into spaces that breathe.
Bio-inspiration is everywhere in our studio. This tribal lizard art, mounted on an exposed brick wall next to a circular window, reflects our love for nature, craft, and looking at the world from different perspectives.
A line of ants and a dung beetle, sculpted from recycled steel, march across our studio floor. These playful art pieces are a constant reminder of our connection to the natural world and our belief in sustainable creativity.

Pieces of our heart and art are found throughout our studio. A repurposed ship's porthole serves as a mirror, sharing space with a classic rocking chair and other handmade artworks that inspire us daily.

This is one of our initial concept sketches for the Aste Bar. The drawing shows how we planned to reuse different parts of an aircraft, from seats to wings, to create a functional and unique bar interior.

About Behind the Design: Our Process & Studio
You might see polished renders elsewhere, but in our studio, the walls are covered in real-world experiments. We believe architecture is a dialogue between material and place, so we spend as much time testing how a brick wall reflects the afternoon sun as we do on floor plans. When we talk about your project, we start with what you actually need, not what looks good in a magazine, to build a space that truly breathes.
Our design process is tactile and driven by curiosity. It rarely starts with a standard grid. Instead, we begin with a conversation about how you live, what you love, and the specific quirks of your site. We believe in the power of sketches, physical models, and even 'messy' site tests to find the right solution.
From Sketch to Structure
Every project follows a path of discovery. Whether it is a boutique hotel in Chikmagalur or a neighborhood bar in Bengaluru, we treat the building as a living entity. We often start by looking at existing structures to see what can be saved or reimagined, such as turning old aircraft wreckage into furniture or using rubble from a demolition to form a new foundation. We don't believe in wiping the slate clean; we prefer to weave our work into the existing narrative of the space.
The Role of Nature and Art
We see no distinction between a structural wall and a canvas. Our studio is filled with local art, reclaimed artifacts, and test pieces, which serve as a constant reminder that function must always coexist with joy. We design for ventilation and light, often using jali screens or internal courtyards to ensure your home or business stays connected to the outside world, even in the middle of a dense city.
How We Work With You
We provide two main ways to collaborate:
- Turnkey Sustainable Architecture: We handle the entire journey, from civil modifications and sourcing reclaimed materials to the final lighting touches.
- Design Consultancy: If you have your own contractors, we provide the technical GFC drawings, mood boards, and milestone supervision to ensure the design intent is fully realized on-site.
