About The Arts at Chimes
We treat art as an extension of our curriculum rather than an isolated subject. Whether a child is using corrugated sheets to explore texture or practicing fine motor skills through hand-print painting, the focus remains on the process. We encourage children to experiment and try again, ensuring that their creative confidence grows alongside their academic milestones.
At Chimes Montessori in Basavanagudi, we view creativity as a vital language for young children. When you walk through our 10,000 sq ft facility, you will find children engaged in activities that do more than just make a pretty picture. We use tactile, open-ended materials like corrugated paper and non-toxic paints to build fine motor control, patience, and visual-spatial awareness.
Our arts program is naturally woven into the daily Montessori rhythm:
- Music & Rhythm: We use music circles to teach listening skills and group cooperation. From singing in Kannada and Spanish to rhythm games, these sessions help children find their voice and build social confidence.
- Physical Expression: Through guided dance and "freeze" games, children develop body control and spatial awareness. These movements are essential for physical development and emotional regulation.
- Hands-on Creativity: You will rarely see boring worksheets in our classrooms. Instead, our students engage in activities like rangoli-making, where they learn patterns and symmetry, or finger painting, which helps them process sensory information.
By integrating these arts into our afternoon and early years sessions, we provide a balanced day. Children who spend their mornings or afternoons with us leave not just with a completed craft, but with a deeper sense of self-expression. We invite you to visit our campus in Basavanagudi to see this creative environment for yourself.
