Creative Art and Self-Expression at Siksha Montessori

At Siksha, art is not just about the final product. It is a vital tool for children to build focus, fine motor control, and express their own unique vision of the world around them.

Our art corner is always available for children to express themselves. This collage shows a child using recycled materials to create, demonstrating that art is about imagination, not expensive supplies.

Art is a daily activity at Siksha. This collage showcases various art projects, from individual drawings to group activities, all celebrating the unique creative expression of each child.

A young girl dressed for Dusshera celebrations stands beside her beautiful, handcrafted wall hanging. Art is integrated with our cultural celebrations, making learning about traditions a creative, hands-on process.

A proud student shows off his paper-folded Ganesha. This art project for Ganesh Chaturthi combines fine motor skills, following sequences, and cultural learning in a single, joyful activity.

Two sisters proudly display their spray-paint artwork created at home. Our distance learning program encourages children to explore different art mediums and work collaboratively.

A child proudly holds up his artwork of a decorated elephant, created for the Dusshera festival. These projects allow children to learn about cultural symbols through their own creative work.

This student displays the intricate elephant-themed hanging he made. This craft project required cutting, pasting, and assembling, all of which are excellent for developing dexterity.

About this collection

In our art corner, we do not give children pre-cut templates or instructions to copy. Instead, they use raw materials—recycled paper, glue, and natural elements—to construct their own versions of festivals or nature studies. It might look messy to some, but this is where the real work happens: when they decide how to fold, cut, and assemble their ideas, they are learning how to solve problems and trust their own creative process.

Art at Siksha is integrated into everything we do, from learning about geometry to understanding cultural heritage. When children work on projects like paper-folded Ganesh idols or Dusshera hangings, they are doing more than just crafting. They are practicing sequence, precision, and focus—the same skills they need for advanced math and language work later on.

We intentionally avoid ‘cookie-cutter’ crafts. You will not find 20 identical drawings on our walls. Instead, we provide the materials and the guidance, and the child decides the outcome. This approach builds genuine confidence because the work is theirs, not a copy of someone else’s instruction.

These activities are a crucial part of our Montessori curriculum for ages 2.5 to 12. Whether it is working with clay, paper, or natural recycled materials, the goal is to build fine motor control and spatial awareness. By focusing on the process—the act of creating—we help children develop a sense of order and accomplishment that carries over into their academic lessons. If you are looking for a BTM Layout preschool that values creative autonomy as much as academic rigor, we invite you to see our space.
