At Chimes, we dedicate a special week to exploring the world through the lens of color. Every hue becomes an opportunity for sensory discovery, helping children connect art, nature, and emotion.

Kaleidoscope Week was a celebration of color, joy, and wonder. This video recap shows the vibrant energy that filled our school as we explored a new hue each day.

Shining in Yellow. On Yellow Day, our school was a ray of sunshine, with children exploring this happy color through sunflower crafts and joyful activities.

Brilliant in Blue. Blue Day was filled with calm and creativity as our little learners explored its depth through sky-themed art and serene smiles.

Glowing in Green. Green Day was a breath of fresh air, nurturing calm and curiosity with leafy crafts and nature-inspired play.

Radiant in Red. Red Day pulsed with the warmth of love and laughter, as little hands created bold, beautiful art.

A pop of purple to start the week. Our Kaleidoscope Week began with a royal splash, as children dressed in purple and created beautiful themed art.

About this collection

While these photos capture the vibrant costumes and crafts of Kaleidoscope Week, the real magic happens in the process. We don't just teach children to recognize red, blue, or yellow; we guide them through sensory experiences—like mixing textures, observing nature, or creating art—that link these colors to real emotions and concepts. It is a week where abstract ideas become tangible, helping children build vocabulary and observational skills without ever needing a boring worksheet.

Kaleidoscope Week is a highlight in our school calendar because it bridges the gap between pure play and foundational learning. In our Basavanagudi classrooms, we treat color as a primary educational tool rather than just a decorative theme.

When we introduce 'Red Day,' it isn't just about wearing red clothes; it is about exploring the energy of the color through physical movement and artistic expression. Similarly, 'Blue Day' centers on calm and serenity, using water-based sensory activities to help children understand emotional regulation.

We structure these days to align with the Montessori method of 'learning by doing.' You will see children using practical life materials to explore green, linking it to botany and the environment, or engaging in math exercises that use color-coded counters to make numbers feel approachable. This ensures that every activity serves a purpose, whether it is developing fine motor skills through crafting or building concentration through sustained creative work.

Our approach removes the pressure of rigid instruction. By allowing children to choose their materials and decide how they want to represent each color, we foster independence and confidence. It is this freedom within limits that defines the Chimes experience, making learning feel as natural as breathing. If you are looking for an environment where your child’s natural curiosity is protected and nurtured, we invite you to see our space in person.
