Backbends are more than just flexibility—they are about strength, trust, and opening your heart. We use props and precise alignment to help you practice safely.

In our regular classes, we add a fun twist to our practice with Chakrasana walking. This playful exercise is a great way to build back strength, improve flexibility, and boost confidence on the mat.

The Chakrasana Challenge is all about testing your limits with strength, focus, and grace. From lifting one leg to balancing on one hand, my students push themselves to bend, balance, and grow stronger.

Opening up your back in poses like Ustrasana, or Camel Pose, is not just a physical practice. It helps activate the chakras, heal emotional blockages, and makes you feel fearless and strong enough to face your fears.

Backbends are emotions unlocked. When we open the heart, we let go of fear and embrace trust. Here, students use the wall for support to deepen their backbends, allowing their spine to dance and their soul to shine.

My studio is a place where you find strength, flexibility, and the motivation to show up every day. Here, I am assisting students with props like belts and wheels to help them safely explore deep backbends and other postures.

This is a glimpse into our upper back opening sequence. We focus on foundational poses like Setu Bandhasana, or Bridge Pose, to prepare the spine for deeper backbends, ensuring a safe and effective practice for everyone.

Our classes are always super energetic. This video shows students working on dynamic backbend variations that build core strength and spinal mobility, all within a supportive and fun group setting.

Backbends can be challenging, but they offer enormous benefits like expanding your lungs and opening your heart chakra. In my classes, we use props like blocks and belts to help you learn the correct techniques safely.

Learning Standing Chakrasana requires the right technique and personal attention. I work closely with each student, using props like belts to provide support and build the confidence needed to master this advanced backbend.

This deep backbend is challenging, but completely worth it. Backbends release fear, open the heart chakra, improve cardiovascular health, and build incredible back strength. So, when are you trying?

About Unlock Your Spine: Backbend Practice

Think backbends are just for the super flexible? Think again. In my studio, we do not just throw you into a pose. We use props like yoga wheels, wall ropes, and belts to support your spine, making deep bends safe even if you are a beginner or dealing with stiffness. You learn the technique first, then the depth follows naturally.

Many people fear backbends because they associate them with injury or intense pain. My goal is to change that. When done correctly, backbends are the best way to counteract the 'desk hunch' we develop from sitting all day. By safely opening the chest and activating the spine, we improve posture and release tension held in the shoulders and neck.

At our Paschim Vihar studio, we break down complex poses like Chakrasana (Wheel Pose) and Ustrasana (Camel Pose) into manageable steps. We rely heavily on alignment-based props. A yoga wheel allows you to stretch the upper back without compressing the lower spine, while our rope wall provides the traction needed for those with spinal issues to experience relief safely.

This is not a 'no pain, no gain' environment. If your back is stiff, we start with bridge variations and restorative props before moving to advanced poses. Whether you are coming to us for chronic pain relief or to master your first full wheel pose, the focus is always on creating a sustainable practice. Yoga se hi hoga, but only when you practice with awareness, not ego.

I’m Madhulika, and I traded a desk job for the yoga mat because yoga gave me 'sukun'. I don't believe in quick fixes; I believe in alignment, props, and consistent practice to make your spine feel strong and healthy again.
