Calm Your Mind: Meditation & Sound Healing
Meditation isn't just about sitting still and trying to clear your head. It is about training your mind to find stillness amidst the noise of daily life.
रुको रुको, एक मिनट। (Wait, one minute.) Did you know 80% of people breathe incorrectly? Let's check your breath. I will guide you on the correct way to do diaphragmatic breathing. This simple practice can reduce stress, anxiety, and lethargy.
Does your mind jump between thousands of thoughts? This is the "monkey mind." In this video, I share four simple tasks to help you calm this scattered mind, including focusing on your breath, taking 10 minutes for yourself, and reducing phone use.
When we meditate, our mind goes through three stages: the conscious, subconscious, and unconscious. I explain these phases in this video, from the initial distractions to the deep healing that happens when we access our stored emotions, and finally to the state of pure relaxation.
"It was like I was in a different world." This is what one of our members said after a sound healing session. The vibrations of the singing bowls are incredibly soothing and can transport you to a state of deep relaxation. It is a beautiful way to end a yoga practice.
Peace is a necessity of life. Here, our teacher is preparing the singing bowls for a sound healing session. The gentle resonance of the bowls and gongs helps to calm the nervous system and bring the mind to a state of stillness.
Close your eyes. Take a small rest. Even just one minute of listening to the sound of a singing bowl can bring you into a state of complete relaxation. Share this with your loved ones who might need a moment of peace.
A moment of deep rest during a sound healing session. As members lie in Savasana, the therapeutic vibrations of the singing bowls wash over them, promoting healing on a cellular level.
Happy International Yoga Day. Today, don't just do asanas, take a sankalp (pledge) to prioritize your health and keep your mind calm. Yoga is a journey of understanding yourself, and it teaches us to pause, breathe, and feel the present moment.
About Calm Your Mind: Meditation & Sound Healing
In our sound healing sessions, you don't just listen to the singing bowls. You feel the physical resonance on your body, which helps bypass the overthinking phase and brings you to a state of relaxation much faster than sitting in silence alone.
Taming the Monkey Mind
Many people think their mind is broken because it keeps jumping between thoughts. We call this the 'monkey mind'. It is completely normal. The goal isn't to stop thinking entirely, but to observe those thoughts without getting attached to them. In our sessions, we teach you how to use breathwork and focused movement to act as an anchor, bringing your awareness back to the present moment.
The Three Stages of Meditation
When you sit for meditation or Savasana, your mind naturally travels through three distinct stages:
- The Conscious Mind: This is the surface level where your daily distractions and to-do lists live. It is usually the first layer you encounter.
- The Subconscious Mind: Here, past memories and stored emotions surface. This is often where real healing begins, and it is normal to feel strong emotions during this phase.
- The Unconscious Mind: This is the deep state of rest where time seems to disappear. You feel 'shunya' or empty, and your body enters a phase of total cellular repair.
Why Sound Healing Matters
We integrate Tibetan singing bowls and gongs into our practice at our Defence Colony studio. The vibrations produced by these instruments interact with your nervous system. For many, it is difficult to jump straight into seated meditation after a stressful day. Sound healing acts as a bridge, using external stimuli to calm the 'fight or flight' response, making it easier for you to drop into a meditative state.
How We Practice
We keep our batches small, with only 8-10 students, to ensure everyone gets the space they need. Whether you are dealing with anxiety, sleep issues, or just the weight of a busy professional life, our approach is designed to be a practical tool, not just a philosophy. Join us for a session and experience the difference between just resting and true healing.
Yoga Fettle Journey
We started this journey in 2011 after seeing how much families need a space to truly heal. At our Defence Colony studio, we don't believe in showy routines. We provide a practical environment where you can use props and sound therapy to find real, lasting peace.
