We use props like chairs, blocks, and straps to make yoga accessible and effective for every body. These tools allow you to find the right alignment without strain, helping you progress safely.

For advanced back-bending preparation, we use chairs for support. I instruct students to use the chair to safely deepen their backbend, with options to use a belt if their hands don't reach.

Here, I provide a hands-on adjustment for a student practicing a deep backbend over a chair. I guide them to find the right balance and alignment to avoid injury.

I am assisting a student with Purna Shalabhasana (Full Locust Pose) using a chair and bolster. This support allows for a deeper, more therapeutic backbend.

This is another variation of an advanced backbend using a chair and a wall for support. I guide the student on how to use the props to gradually open her spine.

In this video, I assist a student in a deep backbend using a chair. The prop provides the necessary support for her to open her chest and spine fully.

Here, I am guiding a student through a supported backbend. The use of the chair allows her to relax into the pose and get the maximum benefit of the stretch.

This is a demonstration of an advanced back-bending asana with chair support. I am helping the student to correctly position her hands and open her shoulders.

I am assisting a student in a deep forward bend using a chair for support. This technique helps to lengthen the spine and hamstrings safely.

This video shows an advanced forward bending asana where one student uses another student and a chair for support to achieve a very deep stretch.

About Prop-Supported & Assisted Yoga

Think of props not as crutches, but as the secret to going deeper into a pose safely. When we use a chair for a backbend or a wall rope for spinal traction, we remove the guesswork and the risk of injury. It allows you to hold the stretch longer and breathe better, which is where the real relief begins.

Props allow us to work with gravity, not against it. By using wooden bricks, metal chairs, and wall ropes, we create space in the spine and joints, something that is difficult to achieve with free-body movement alone. This is particularly important for students suffering from sciatica, slip disc, or upper back stiffness caused by long desk hours.

In my sessions, a chair is not just furniture. It is a tool for spinal decompression. When we perform assisted backbends, the chair supports your weight, allowing your chest to open and your shoulders to release tension that has been building up for years. For forward bends, blocks serve as an extension of your arms, ensuring you get the hamstring stretch without sacrificing the integrity of your spine.

This approach is rooted in the precision of traditional yoga therapy. We do not force the body. We adjust the pose to fit the body's current state. Whether you are in our Rohini studio or joining me online, the goal remains the same: a safe, steady practice that transforms your physical limitations into newfound strength. We focus on consistency over intensity, as real transformation comes from how you breathe and align, not how hard you push.
