About this collection
I don't teach for the stage; I teach for the social floor. Whether it is a 2-hour workshop at a festival or a 3-hour intensive bootcamp, we skip the stiff choreography. Instead, we break down rhythms—sometimes using sounds like 'unka chaka'—to help you feel the music and connect with your partner. Take a look at the upcoming lineup below to see where I am teaching next and let’s get moving.
What to Expect at My Workshops
When I sign up for a festival, I am not just there to show up. I am there to make sure you walk away with something you can actually use. You will not find rigid, robotic routines here. My goal is to get you out of your head and into the music. We focus on movement that feels good in your own body, not just steps that look good for a camera.
Choosing Your Format
- Intensive Bootcamps: If you want to dig deep, these are for you. We spend 3 to 4 hours breaking down technique, working on isolations, and fixing your timing. Expect repetitive drills, lots of sweat, and individual feedback so you can actually fix your mistakes.
- Festival Workshops: These are high-energy, faster-paced sessions. We usually tackle a niche topic—like Salsa con Afro, Dominican footwork, or musicality—in about 60 to 90 minutes. It is a great way to taste a new style or refine a specific skill.
Why Focus on Musicality?
Most people get stuck because they are counting steps in their head. My teaching style is all about listening. I break down complex Latin rhythms into simple, intuitive sounds. Once you stop counting and start hearing the instruments—the bongo, the clave, the conga—you stop worrying about the 'perfect' move and start having a real conversation with your partner.
Whether you are a beginner or looking to sharpen your social dancing, bring your water bottle, an open mind, and get ready to have a blast. Check the posters below for dates and locations, and reach out if you have questions about the syllabus.
