About Rumba & Afro-Cuban Rhythms: The Soul of Movement
Rumba is all about the conversation between partners and that distinct Afro-Cuban rhythm. If you have been counting steps in your head, we are going to swap that for sounds like 'unka chaka' to help you actually feel the music and the movement.
In my Rumba and Afro-Cuban workshops, we strip away the need for perfect, social-media-ready choreography. Instead, we focus on the foundation. Whether it is Guaguanco or Yambu, I emphasize body isolation, weight transfers, and how to use the scarf as an extension of your storytelling. It is not about memorizing patterns; it is about understanding why you move the way you do. I travel across India for these intensives, working with dancers at every level who want to stop counting and start feeling. If you are tired of stiff movements and want to bring some real soul into your dancing, let’s get into the studio and work on it. We will break down the rhythms, get the body moving, and make sure you leave the class with a deeper understanding of the dance culture.
