A throwback to this Salsa Con Afro fusion workshop demo. It was a blast teaching these beautiful ladies. My heart is still in Kolkata.
Squad is back, this time with some Rumba. Dancing with my girls to this beautiful Guaguanco track.
Rumba is more than a dance, it's the essence of everything. A little solo moment to connect with this powerful and expressive style.
The universe conspires when Rumberos are around. Had a fabulous time working on this quick Rumba combo, even at a Bachata festival.
Here are some Rumba scarf variations for follows. The scarf is a beautiful prop in Rumba that adds a layer of storytelling and flirtation to the dance.
Rumba ladies gearing up for a workshop. I love the energy these ladies bring into my life. We are always ready to dance.
Timba takeover with the amazing Adonis. It was an honor to be a part of this super fun demo. It was definitely difficult to stay calm.
About this collection
Rumba is all about the conversation between partners and that distinct Afro-Cuban rhythm. If you have been counting steps in your head, we are going to swap that for sounds like 'unka chaka' to help you actually feel the music and the movement.
In my Rumba and Afro-Cuban workshops, we strip away the need for perfect, social-media-ready choreography. Instead, we focus on the foundation. Whether it is Guaguanco or Yambu, I emphasize body isolation, weight transfers, and how to use the scarf as an extension of your storytelling. It is not about memorizing patterns; it is about understanding why you move the way you do. I travel across India for these intensives, working with dancers at every level who want to stop counting and start feeling. If you are tired of stiff movements and want to bring some real soul into your dancing, let’s get into the studio and work on it. We will break down the rhythms, get the body moving, and make sure you leave the class with a deeper understanding of the dance culture.
Kalpana
I'm Kalpana. I don't believe in perfectly polished dance videos that look great but feel empty. I am here to help you get sweaty, laugh, and find the real connection in your movement through the magic of Rumba and Afro-Cuban rhythms.
