Food as Medicine: The Natureville Philosophy
I believe our bodies are intelligent supercomputers that thrive on whole plant foods. Here, I break down the science of why nature provides everything we need to heal, feel vibrant, and reclaim our health from the inside out.
My guiding principle is simple: "Nature tells, man sells." In this talk, I share why I believe the answers to our health questions can be found by observing how food exists in nature, before it's processed and marketed to us.
Did you know there's a dark side to the global demand for avocados? I explain why I choose to support local, seasonal Indian butter fruit over imported Hass avocados, making a choice that's better for our environment and farmers.
Are you concerned about getting enough protein on a plant-based diet? In this video, I break down the science of amino acids and explain why whole plant foods are a superior and safer source of protein than processed powders and supplements.
Experiencing gas or bloating after eating beans and lentils? I explain that this is often a sign that your gut microbiome needs time to adapt. I share how gradually introducing these fiber-rich foods can build a healthier gut.
Will cashews raise your cholesterol? The answer is no. I debunk this common myth by explaining that cholesterol is only found in animal products. Plant foods like nuts, seeds, and avocados contain zero cholesterol and are vital for good health.
What's the difference between "vegan" and "whole food plant-based"? I clarify these terms, explaining why a WFPB lifestyle goes a step further by focusing on unprocessed, unrefined foods for optimal health and disease reversal.
Many people think a plant-based lifestyle is expensive, but that's a misconception. I explain how focusing on local, seasonal vegetables, whole grains, and lentils is actually one of the most economical ways to eat.
About The Philosophy: Food as Medicine
You might be wondering if you truly need expensive protein supplements or if your chronic bloating is just how your body works. My philosophy is not about following strict, temporary rules. It is about crowding out processed, inflammatory foods with nutrient-dense, whole plant ingredients. Whether you are navigating a specific health diagnosis or just feeling low on daily energy, we start by looking at how your body is designed to function, not just by counting calories.
Why Food Is Your Best Medicine
When we talk about 'Food as Medicine,' we are not looking for quick fixes. We are looking at the foundational science of how whole, unprocessed plant foods interact with our physiology. At Natureville, I work to show you that your body is a self-healing system that just needs the right fuel.
Debunking Common Myths
Many of my clients come to me after years of following conflicting advice. Let’s clear the air:
- The Protein Panic: You do not need to isolate protein from plants. Nature provides complete nutrition. If you are eating whole lentils, beans, nuts, and seeds, you are getting all the amino acids your body needs without the heavy metal risks often found in processed powders.
- The Cholesterol Question: Plant foods have zero cholesterol. Cholesterol is only produced by animals. If you are worried about your levels, focus on what you are adding to your plate rather than just what you are cutting out.
- The Bloating Reality: If you get gassy after eating beans, it is not a sign that you should stop eating them. It is a sign that your gut microbiome is not yet adapted to that fiber. We work on a slow, consistent introduction that trains your gut to thrive on these longevity-promoting foods.
The Whole Food Approach in Bengaluru
Living in a city like Bengaluru means we are surrounded by processed convenience. My approach is to help you navigate this environment without feeling restricted. We focus on local, seasonal produce from the Western Ghats, like our indigenous butter fruit instead of imported varieties. It is about understanding the supply chain, choosing real food over manufactured products, and learning to listen to your body’s signals. Whether you are joining me for a consultation in Indiranagar or using my meal plans to reclaim your vitality, the goal is the same: sustainability, not a temporary diet.
