The Boxing Series: Master the Fundamentals
I believe in building a strong foundation, which is why I created this video series. Here, I break down the science of boxing step-by-step, from your first stance to complex combinations, so you can master the core techniques.
Lesson 1: It all starts with the stance. I explain the two main stances in boxing, Orthodox and Southpaw, and show you how to position your body for optimal balance and power.
Lesson 2: In this lesson, we cover the six primary punches in boxing. I demonstrate the proper form for the jab and the cross, focusing on how to generate power from your shoulders and hips.
Lesson 3: The hook punch is a powerful tool for close-range fighting. I teach the correct 90-degree angle and how to pivot your body to deliver a powerful, effective hook.
Lesson 4: The uppercut is a devastating punch when used correctly. This lesson covers the mechanics of throwing an uppercut, generating power from your legs and core to target the chin.
Lesson 5: Movement is key. I demonstrate the four basic directions of footwork: forward, backward, left, and right. Maintaining your stance and balance while moving is a fundamental skill.
Lesson 6: Here, we combine footwork with punches. I show you how to throw the jab-cross combination while moving forward and backward, maintaining distance and control.
Lesson 7: This lesson focuses on throwing the hook punch while on the move. We practice coordinating our footwork with the body rotation needed for a powerful left and right hook.
Lesson 8: We advance to throwing the uppercut while moving forward and backward. This drill helps build coordination and the ability to attack from different positions.
Lesson 9: Wrapping your hands correctly is crucial for preventing injury. I provide a simple, step-by-step guide on how to wrap your hands for maximum support of the wrist and knuckles.
Lesson 10: Inspired by Mike Tyson, this lesson is about the "side-to-side" head movement. I explain how to use your core to bend at the waist, making your head a difficult target.
