Life Behind the Triathlon Scenes
Triathlon training isn't just about the race day finish line. It is about the early mornings, the constant gear checks, and the raw reality of the sport.
My face when someone says they don't want to upgrade to cleats because they want to "get recovery" on every pedal stroke. That's a new one.
What a privilege it is to eat, sleep, train, repeat. A quick look at a day in my life.
True story. That feeling of being a rockstar after changing a tire, knowing full well that if I get a flat on race day, it'll still be a DNF because I'm so slow at it.
My reaction when someone goes to a spin class and calls themselves a cyclist. Ok then...
Just another casual day prepping for a triathlon. The amount of gear is no joke.
Fresh and crisp. A moment of relaxation on the beach with my bike.
Posing with my partner Ankush after the BMF 47.5. His positivity and vibe are aspirational.
About this collection
The glamorous side of triathlon training does not exist, and that is exactly why I love it. You will see me swapping out tires, packing gear for swim-bike-run combos, and sometimes questioning why I did not learn to fix flats faster, but that is the reality of the sport. I focus on the gritty, real work that gets you to the start line ready to go.
If you follow the highlight reels, triathlon looks like a dream. In reality, it is a game of logistics, nutrition management, and mental toughness. My training philosophy centers on removing the fluff because fancy gear cannot save you if you have not put in the hours of practice.
The Reality of the Grind
When we train for events like the Ironman 70.3, we are not just doing laps. We are studying elevation profiles, practicing transition drills until they are muscle memory, and managing heat during long run sessions. Whether we are training at Vatadahosahalli Lake or prepping for a race-day swim, the focus is always on efficiency.
Why the Small Details Matter
I often share unpopular opinions about gear and nutrition because I want you to be prepared, not just hopeful. For example, upgrading your bike setup is only effective if you have built the base strength to support it. I prioritize:
- Specific Strength Training: Mobility and recovery are non-negotiable for longevity in the sport.
- Data-Driven Fueling: We move away from generic dieting and towards practical, performance-based nutrition.
- Technical Proficiency: We break down stroke mechanics and bike geometry to keep you moving smarter, not just harder.
My coaching is about the 'in-between' moments. It is the weekly strategy calls to review your pace data, the honest feedback on your running gait, and the adjustment of your plan when life gets chaotic. If you are ready to stop guessing and start training with purpose, we will work well together. Consistency is the only hack that actually works.
