Behind the Brush: The Story of Our Studio
Running a creative business isn't all flowery posts and perfectly lit photos. It’s mostly coffee, teamwork, a lot of hustle, and learning to fix things on the fly. Come meet the team behind your custom art.
They say it takes a village to build a business, and mine starts with a call to my Papa. This business runs on his wisdom and a whole lot of long-distance love. Happy Father's Day, Papa.
My Papa, my business hotline. He helps with everything from finding materials to calming me down when things get stressful.
Papa, the expert problem solver, even helps with the hands-on technical parts of our products, like fixing the wiring for our bottle lamps.
My parents, the pillars of this business. Here's my Papa working on a piece while my mom looks on. Their support is everything.
Papa enjoying his morning tea in one of our hand-painted tropical cups. He's our first and most honest critic.
The reality of running a small business isn't always glamorous. It's not about being a 'malkin' with your feet up; it's about being the jack of all trades, including packing every box yourself.
Just a quick, fun painting session to create something new for the studio walls.
A quick freehand sketch session before calling it a day. Constant practice helps keep the creative ideas flowing.
A day in the life of the artists at The Yellow Brush studio. From the morning commute to packing the last order, this is what a typical day looks like for our team.
My favorite part of the day is brewing coffee for the team. We're all coffee lovers here, and these little breaks keep our spirits high.
About Behind the Brush: Our Story & Studio
You might see the finished, hand-painted planters or restored furniture on our feed, but the real work happens in the quiet, often messy hours at our Whitefield studio. When you place an order, you aren't just getting a piece of decor. You are getting the result of multiple sketches, a few frantic calls to my Papa for technical advice, and endless cups of coffee shared with my team. We aren't a factory; we are a small, tight-knit group that treats every item like a personal project.
People often ask how I manage to juggle everything from custom murals on large furniture to delicate bottle painting while handling the business side of things. The answer is simple: I don’t do it alone. My studio in Whitefield is built on a foundation of family support and a team that keeps me sane.
The Support System
My Papa is my unofficial business partner. He is the one who helps me figure out the technical parts, like fixing wiring for lamp makeovers or sourcing the right materials when I am stuck. My mom is the OG artist who taught me how to blend colors before I even knew what a small business was. Their encouragement is what keeps me going on the tough days.
The Studio Reality
Running The Yellow Brush means I wear every hat. One hour I am sanding down a wooden stool for a furniture makeover, and the next I am packing boxes to ship to Delhi or Mumbai. It is not always glamorous. We have days where orders pile up and the pressure is real, but that is when the team really shines. Whether it is Rishi and Surbhi helping me hit a deadline or just sharing a laugh during a particularly long painting session, the energy here is what makes our art unique.
Our Philosophy
We believe in keeping things human. That is why we offer everything from beginner-friendly art workshops to full-scale home decor restorations. We want you to see the process, understand the effort, and feel like you know exactly who is working on your piece. When you reach out, you are not talking to an automated system. You are talking to me or someone from my team who actually knows the status of your order.
The Yellow Brush
I am Tanvi, and I started this journey because I am obsessed with turning forgotten items into something you will actually want to display. My studio is my happy place, my chaotic office, and the home of every custom piece we create. I am just a girl with a paintbrush, a supportive team, and a constant need to create something new.
