Decorative Bottle Art

Getting the paint to stick to smooth glass is the tricky part. Before I touch a brush to a bottle, I deep clean and apply a specialized bonding primer so the design doesn't chip. I finish every piece with multiple coats of clear, furniture-grade varnish, so whether you’re using it as a vase with water or just a decorative shelf piece, the art stays protected and vibrant.

I’ve always believed that the glass bottles destined for the landfill have so much more to offer. My studio process is all about reclaiming these forms—whether it’s a standard Coke bottle or a heavy beer growler—and finding the right theme to match their shape. My signature style leans into bold, line-heavy illustrations, but I love playing with whatever inspires you.

• Consultation: We decide on the vibe. Are we thinking vibrant sunflowers, a minimalist cityscape, or a portrait that means something to you?
• Preparation: I strip the labels, deep clean the glass, and prime it.
• The Art: This is where the magic happens. I use fade-resistant acrylics and finish with heavy-duty varnish.

I also host workshops where I teach these exact techniques. Watching people realize they can paint on glass—and that they don’t need to be professional artists to do it—is my favorite part of the job. It’s messy, it’s fun, and you leave with something you actually made yourself.
