About The 'Jungle Jugalbandi' Experience

Our workshops go beyond passive listening. Every child participates in the 'Jugalbandi' by using props like colorful scarves and simple rhythm instruments. We introduce complex concepts like high and low notes through movement and storytelling, ensuring that children learn the nuances of Indian classical music while simply having fun in a pressure-free environment.

Making Music Accessible

Many parents worry that Indian classical music is too rigid or technical for young children. We created the Jungle Jugalbandi experience to dismantle that barrier. By combining a narrative book with interactive musical sessions, we help children form a friendship with music before they ever worry about performance or theory.

What Happens in a Session

When we host these workshops in Mumbai or Pune, we focus on sensory engagement. You will see kids using body percussion—claps and stomps—to decode rhythms. We use chiffon scarves for visual tracking exercises and guide children through breathing exercises that double as classroom regulation techniques.

The Learning Outcome

Our sessions are designed to nurture cognitive and emotional development. Through this program, children explore:

  • Rhythm recognition: Learning to identify tempo through movement.
  • Pitch exploration: Understanding 'high' and 'low' (uncha and neecha) surs.
  • Social confidence: Participating in group activities like a true jugalbandi, where listening to others is just as important as playing.

Whether it is a library reading or a school festival, our goal remains the same: to ensure every child feels at home with music.
