Music is more than just performance; it is a catalyst for growth. We blend Indian classical roots with play-based learning to make music a lifelong friend for every child.

We believe music is a catalyst for growth at any age. In this feature, we share our story and our mission to make Indian music accessible and fun, using songs, stories, and games to connect with children and help them discover a lifelong friendship with art.

This is what our teacher training looks like: a collaborative, hands-on session where educators learn to design their own play-based music curriculum. Here, our trainees are working together on lesson plans, surrounded by instruments and creative materials.

See how a simple scarf can become a magical tool for teaching movement and rhythm. Our teacher Vaibhavi demonstrates a fun, engaging scarf activity that helps develop motor skills and musicality in preschoolers, a technique you'll master in our training.

This is our mission in motion. We, Kamakshi and Vishala, stand proudly before our 'Sound Space on Wheels' bus, an initiative that brings music education to underserved communities and embodies our commitment to making music accessible for every child.

Our training sessions are a blend of cultures and sounds. Here, trainees learn to integrate different instruments like the djembe and guitar, exploring how to create a rich, multicultural musical environment for children.

Learning about 'sur' (notes) can be pure fun. This clip from a parent-toddler class shows how we introduce concepts like high and low pitch through playful movement, making abstract musical ideas tangible and exciting for our youngest learners.

We created 'Jungle Jugalbandi' to introduce children to the world of traditional Indian music in a fun and accessible way. This musical storybook is a core part of our curriculum, helping you teach complex ideas through engaging narratives.

Our co-founder Vishala shares the personal philosophy that started it all. For us, music is more than an art form; it's a friend, a teacher, and a way to evolve. This belief is the foundation of every class we teach and every educator we train.

About Featured

We do not just teach notes; we use scarves, rhythm games, and storytelling to make classical music feel like a playground rather than a classroom. When we train educators, we focus on this exact play-first framework, showing you how to turn a simple sur (note) into a story a child can actually hold onto.

Music as a Language, Not a Chore

At The Sound Space, we believe music education for children needs to be accessible, consistent, and above all, fun. We grew up in a musical family and realized early on that the pressure to perform often kills the joy of learning. We started this organization to strip that pressure away.

Whether you are a parent looking for a class or an aspiring teacher wanting to join our crew, our approach remains the same: music is a bridge to emotional well-being and connection.

Our Core Philosophy

  • Play-Based Pedagogy: We don't believe in boring drills. From our 'Jungle Jugalbandi' storybooks to using simple chiffon scarves for rhythm tracking, we transform abstract classical concepts into tactile experiences.
  • Inclusive for Everyone: Music is a human right. Through our 'Sound Space on Wheels' outreach, we take instruments and teaching to communities that might not have access otherwise.
  • Teacher Training: We share our proprietary curriculum because we want to grow the village. If you are in Mumbai or Pune and want to learn how to mix Indian and Western styles for kids, our certification programs give you the tools, confidence, and the starter kit to get going.

Why Choose This Path?

  • Focus on Well-being: We teach children to connect with themselves and their environment, building patience and focus along the way.
  • Proven Results: Our curriculum is built for quick engagement. You will see kids responding to the rhythm and the swaras (notes) from the very first session.
  • Supportive Community: You aren't just learning a technique; you are becoming part of a musical family. We offer ongoing support, from workshops to internship opportunities for our certified educators.
