Core Curriculum
- Duration: 3 to 4 hours of practical training, typically on weekends.
- Focus: First Response Combat Training curriculum centered on immediate reaction to sudden threats.
- Mental Conditioning: 30-45 minute segment on situational awareness, panic control, and legal use of force.
Physical Techniques
- Striking: Generating power without gloves using open-palm slaps, knee strikes, and groin kicks.
- Releases: Defense against wrist grabs, hair pulls, and rear choke/neck grabs.
- Improvised Weapons: Instruction on using everyday items like keys, bags, or pens for defense.
Venue & Logistics
- Location: St. Francis School Grounds/Hall, Koramangala (Outdoor/Semi-open concrete surfaces).
- Amenities: Basic shared restrooms and communal training gear (focus pads/shields).
- Certification: Printed certificate of completion provided.
Instruction
- Lead: Master Ashwin Naidu (30+ years experience) or Senior Black Belt.
- Support: 1-2 Senior assistants for partner drill correction.

Why I Do This
I’ve built The School of Martial Arts into more than a dojo – it’s a place where anyone can discover their own strength. My self-defense workshops aren’t about turning you into a fighter, but about helping you feel safer and more confident every day.

My Story
I’m Ashwin, founder of The School of Martial Arts. Been at this since 1998, sweat and soul, not just sport - it’s my life. Had my share of injuries, thought I’d hang up my gloves, but nope, still fighting, still winning medals in my 50s. What makes me proud? Seeing a 55-year-old get his black belt, watching Naina use her skills to protect a friend. My students say, 'ivattu namage kalisikottiddu full upayog aaytu' (today’s training was really useful). That’s what keeps me going. I walk this path with my students, not just show the way.
My Work
Combat Sports & Fitness Training - We teach MMA, Kickboxing, Boxing, Muay Thai, BJJ, Taekwondo, and Yoga. Training for marathons too.
