Our Community and Pottery Journey
See how our members discover their creativity, grow from their first wobbly pot to finished stoneware, and find peace at our HSR Layout studio.
This is Anitha, who started her journey with us full of doubt but has grown into a confident potter. She now has her own small studio space and her beautiful collection of work is an inspiration to us all.
A selection of Anitha's work, showcasing her progress from a beginner to an intermediate potter. Her dedication and consistent practice really shine through in these pieces.
Meet Monica, who recently joined our team. Her journey started at a Christmas workshop and has grown into a passion for creating functional and sculptural pieces. We are so excited to have her with us.
Pradyumna has been with us for just over a year, and he already creates with such passion. Here he is with one of his beautifully thrown forms, ready for the next stage of decoration.
Another shot of Pradyumna with his work. He enjoys exploring new techniques in both wheel throwing and hand-building, and his dedication is inspiring.
Pradyumna at work on one of his signature sgraffito pieces. He is meticulously carving a leaf pattern onto a large vase, a technique he has truly mastered.
The focus and precision required for detailed sgraffito work. Pradyumna spends hours perfecting his designs, and the results are always breathtaking.
A beautiful collection of unglazed stoneware pots made by our intermediate student, Saumya. The clean forms and smooth finish show a wonderful level of skill and control.
Prady, one of our most dedicated members, working on a pot with a complex checkered slip design. He constantly inspires everyone in the studio with his passion.
The focus in his eyes says it all. Prady is completely absorbed in his craft, carefully applying the finishing touches to his sgraffito vase.
About Our Community Showcase
It is not just about the clay; it is about the person behind the pot. When you walk into our studio, you are not just a student; you are part of a community that grows together. Whether it is Anitha’s journey from a nervous beginner to setting up her own space, or Prady’s dedication to mastering intricate sgraffito designs, every piece here holds a story of patience and personal discovery.
We believe that pottery is as much about the process as it is about the final product. Many of our members join us looking for a break from their daily routines in Bangalore, and they find a quiet, sunny space where they can slow down and get their hands messy.
Our studio environment is designed to be supportive, not strictly academic. If you are learning wheel throwing alongside someone hand-building, you will often find our members sharing tips, watching demos together, and laughing over the little mistakes that are just part of the craft. We keep our batches small to ensure everyone gets the guidance they need to move from those first, unsure attempts to confident creation.
From kids learning through play during our holiday sessions to adults finding their meditative rhythm in our 10-week wheel-throwing courses, our community is a mix of all skill levels. We provide all the materials, tools, and technical support—including glazing and firing—so you just need to bring your curiosity. If you are looking for a place where imperfections are embraced and where your progress is celebrated, you will fit right in.
The Potter's Place
I’m Bhavya, and I run The Potter's Place as a space to slow down and create. It has been such a privilege to watch this community grow—seeing people come in as strangers and leave as potters, each with their own unique voice in clay.
