Martial Arts Training at the Dojo

Step into our dojo to master the foundations of Indian Karate. We focus on building discipline, physical strength, and mental sharpness through structured training for all ages.

This video shows a typical Kumite (sparring) training session in our dojo. Students practice offensive and defensive techniques in a controlled environment to prepare for competition.

I am demonstrating a specific Kumite combination to a senior student while the junior class observes. Proper instruction and correction are key to mastering techniques.

Young students practicing their sparring drills. They learn timing, distance, and control from an early age, building a strong foundation for advanced Kumite.

This montage shows various aspects of our training, from young students practicing basic stances and punches to seniors engaging in partner drills and kicks.

My youngest students, with yellow belts, practicing their basic Kata in unison. Kata is a sequence of movements that teaches focus, balance, and the application of techniques.

I lead my students in performing a basic Kata. This practice is essential for instilling discipline and perfecting the fundamental movements of karate.

About this collection

Every session takes place on professional 25mm EVA foam mats, which provide the essential impact absorption needed for safe takedowns and dynamic movement. While we focus heavily on the rigors of Kalri-N-Ryu—mastering every block, punch, and kick—the training environment is built on mutual respect and controlled intensity, whether you are a beginner stepping onto the mat for the first time or a senior student preparing for grading.

Our Approach to Training

In the dojo, the environment is as vital as the technique. I believe that martial arts training requires a dedicated space where one can strip away distractions and focus entirely on the movement. Whether you train at our main academy in Nagarbhavi or our facility at the Sri Durga Parameshwari Temple in Chandra Layout, the curriculum remains consistent.

The Path of Progression

Our sessions are built on the principles of Kalri-N-Ryu, a style of Indian Karate. We break down the learning process into three core areas:

  • Kihon (Foundations): We start with the basics. Students learn stances, punches, and kicks, ensuring correct body mechanics before moving to speed.
  • Kata (Forms): This is where you develop focus and balance. By repeating choreographed sequences, you learn to move with precision and intention.
  • Kumite (Sparring): Once the foundation is set, we practice controlled sparring. This is where students learn timing, distance, and how to apply their techniques in a real-world context.

Who is this for?

We keep our batches moderate—typically 15 to 25 students—which allows me to provide personal correction to every student. This is not a high-volume gym where you get lost in the crowd. It is a classroom. I teach kids, adults, and seniors with the same level of commitment, adjusting the intensity based on your physical readiness and goals.

If you are looking for traditional weapons training, we also integrate Bo staff (laathi) and Nunchaku handling for senior students who have demonstrated sufficient control. Whatever your starting point, my goal is to help you build a strong mind and a strong body.
