Mindful Yoga, Pranayama & Deep Relaxation in Powai
Yoga at Svādhyāya is less about flexibility and more about coming home to yourself. Through intentional breathwork, mindfulness, and deep rest, we hold space for you to slow down and listen.
From the first inhale in Sukhasana to the final sigh in Savasana, the breath is the bridge between movement and meditation, self and the infinite.
Pranayama is the practice of regulating the breath to guide our energy. Here, a student practices Nadi Shodhana (Alternate Nostril Breathing) to find balance and calm.
Experience the magic of Udgeeth Pranayama, the simple chanting of "OM." This powerful practice calms the mind and unites your energies.
A moment of collective stillness as we practice Bhramari (Humming Bee Breath), a pranayama technique that soothes the nervous system.
Trataka (candle gazing) is a powerful meditation technique to improve focus and bring clarity to the mind. Here we practice a variation.
Letting go is a practice of its own. In Savasana, we release tension, expectations, and all that no longer serves us.
Surrender is not weakness, but strength. In this space of release during Savasana, we find freedom, clarity, and the courage to simply be.
The quiet of the studio after a strong practice. This is where the real integration happens, as we rest in Savasana.
In perfect harmony, resting as one. The collective stillness at the end of class is a powerful experience.
The art of doing nothing. Savasana at its finest, allowing the body and mind to absorb the benefits of the practice.
About Mindfulness, Breath & Final Relaxation
Think of the final Savasana not as a nap, but as the most important part of your practice. It is where you let go of the day and integrate the movement. We do not rush this here; with the aid of sound bowls and gentle guidance, we make sure you leave the shala feeling completely reset, not just tired.
In our Powai shala, we approach mindfulness as a bridge between the physical and the internal. Often, we get so caught up in the 'doing'—the asanas, the stretching, the sweat—that we miss the point of practice.
The Role of Breath
Pranayama is the foundation here. Whether we are practicing Nadi Shodhana to balance the nervous system or using the steady hum of Bhramari to soothe anxiety, the breath is our primary tool. It isn't just about lung capacity; it is about reclaiming your focus in a world that pulls you in a dozen directions at once.
Sound Healing and Integration
We incorporate sound healing using singing bowls at the end of sessions because vibration bypasses the thinking mind. It creates an environment where 'surrender' stops being a concept and starts feeling like a physical reality. When the bowls vibrate, the body naturally moves out of a 'fight or flight' state and into rest.
A Space for Everyone
Whether you are a complete beginner or an experienced practitioner, you do not need to be 'good' at meditation to join. If your mind goes idhar udhar (here and there) during class, that is perfectly normal. Our small group batches ensure you get the attention you need to learn these techniques safely and effectively. We create a container where you can be exactly as you are—tired, restless, or vibrant—and simply practice being with it.
