About this collection
I keep these sessions raw and stripped back, much like the traditional baithaks of old. With me seated at the harmonium and accompanied by a tabla player, we do not need loud amplification to reach your soul, allowing for a quiet, emotional connection that usually gets lost in a standard loud concert.
When the noise of the world fades, music should act as a bridge between hearts. This is the essence of my ghazal and Sufi mehfils. Unlike our high-energy Bollywood sets, these performances are designed for listening, reflection, and that quiet, spiritual connection.
I personally guide the flow of the evening, weaving in 'shayari' (poetry) that sets the mood for the next piece. Whether it is an anniversary dinner in a private home, a corporate ghazal evening, or a quiet sangeet, I adapt the ensemble to the space. For truly intimate settings, I perform with a minimal setup: my vocals, a harmonium, and a tabla. This acoustic-led approach ensures that the nuances of every ghazal and the depth of the poetry are never drowned out.
