Meet the Sufi Folks Ensemble: Our Musicians & Craft
A peek into the 10-piece collective behind the music. This isn't just a band; it's a team of souls who turn every event into a living, breathing mehfil.
Our drummer, lost in the rhythm. He provides the powerful heartbeat that drives our high-energy performances.
A shot of me engaging with the audience during a large-scale event. My role is to be the bridge between the band and the listeners.
A candid moment on stage, seated before the performance begins. This captures the calm before I pour all my energy into the music.
A moment of pure 'roohaniyat' or spirituality on stage. This is me, lost in a high note, connecting with the divine through music under the vibrant red lights.
A collage showcasing the different elements of the band: the intricate work of our guitarists, the soulful backing vocals, the traditional rhythms of the tabla, and the modern pulse of the drums.
The faces behind the music. This collage shows me on stage and with the entire band, highlighting the camaraderie and friendship that fuels our performances.
A candid shot of me at the harmonium, smiling as I interact with the audience. It's this connection that makes every live performance special.
About this collection
This 10-piece ensemble is where the magic of Sufi Folks truly lives. We are not a backing track outfit; every sound you hear—from the tabla's heartbeat to the bassist's groove—is played live by artists who have spent years finding our collective rhythm. When you book us, you are getting a unified team that knows exactly how to read a room, whether we are weaving poetry into a quiet ghazal or cranking up the energy for a Bollywood reception.
Great music is about chemistry, not just competence. Our band setup includes a full mix of western instruments like drums, guitars, and keyboards, balanced with the traditional, earthy sounds of the flute, tabla, and sarangi. This variety allows us to transition seamlessly from a soulful Sufi evening to an upbeat Bollywood set without breaking the mood.
We prioritize authenticity. Because we perform as a 10-piece group, we bring a level of acoustic richness that a smaller setup simply cannot match. Alish Mohan leads the vocals, blending Urdu Shayari with contemporary melodies to keep the storytelling at the forefront.
For hosts planning an event, keep in mind that this level of production requires a bit of logistical support. Since we bring our own instruments, we rely on you to provide the PA system, monitors, and the tech environment. This setup allows us to focus entirely on the performance. We view our role as a partner in your celebration, and having a full ensemble ensures that whether you are hosting a grand wedding in Delhi or an intimate gathering across India, the music feels full, powerful, and deeply personal.
Sufi Folks
We are not just a band; we are a family. Alish and the team have spent years jamming together, which is why you will never see us just going through the motions. We feed off each other’s energy to make sure the music hits home for every single guest.
