Pottery Courses and Workshops
Whether you are looking for a weekend escape or a deep dive into clay, our studio in Nayandahalli offers classes for all skill levels. Come get your hands dirty, master the wheel, or join our mindful pottery sessions in a space that feels like a home away from home.
We have three core pottery experiences to choose from. Swipe to see the details for our short-term classes, month-long beginners course, and our unique pottery for mental health sessions.
Our 'Rooting in Mud' course is a comprehensive one-month program for beginners. Over 8 weekend sessions, you'll learn everything from wheel-throwing and hand-building to decorating and making handles.
Just have a day or a weekend? Our 'Seeding in Mud' short-term classes are the perfect introduction. The one-day class covers wheel-throwing and hand-building basics, while the two-day option adds decorating techniques.
'Blooming in Mud' is our special session focused on pottery for mental health. It's less about the final product and more about the therapeutic process of working with clay in a judgment-free space.
Look at this amazing collection from our first 'Rooting in Mud' student. After one month, she created a full set of bowls, mugs, and platters using both wheel-throwing and hand-building techniques.
We love seeing our students' progress. Koushik proudly displays the pieces he made during his 7-week course, all ready for the bisque firing. His final project was an ambitious and successful coffee pour-over.
Come join a class. We guide you through wheel throwing, hand-building, and surface decoration. It's a great way to pick up a new skill and relax.
Here's a look at our kids' workshop. This young potter is already showing amazing progress after just four classes, learning to center the clay and pull walls on the wheel.
The results from our students are always so unique and beautiful. This video showcases a few finished pieces, from a faceted green cup to a delicate pink flower bowl, all glazed and ready to go home.
We welcome anyone who wants to try pottery, learn a new skill, or just escape the daily hustle. Our studio is a place to relax your mind and make art.
About Our Pottery Courses & Workshops
Unlike standard electric kilns, we use a specialized gas kiln for reduction firing, which creates the earthy, speckled finishes you see in our gallery. Whether you choose our 4-hour introductory session or our month-long intensive course, you are learning the science behind the art, not just playing with clay.
At Studio Mudlife, we believe pottery is about the process of slowing down. Our studio in Nayandahalli is a green, plant-filled oasis where you can forget the city chaos, slip off your chappals, and focus on the clay. We offer three core ways to experience our studio:
Our Pottery Courses
- Seeding in Mud: This is our introductory workshop, perfect if you are curious about the craft but short on time. We cover wheel-throwing and hand-building basics in a single day or a weekend session. You will learn to center clay, open your base, and shape your own bowl.
- Rooting in Mud: Our intensive 1-month beginner course. This covers 32 hours of curriculum, including wheel-throwing, trimming, and glazing. By the end, you will take home 4 food-safe, finished pieces. We focus on foundational techniques: pulling cylinders, making handles, and refining your shapes.
- Blooming in Mud: Led by Shreya, these sessions focus on art therapy and somatic engagement. It is a judgment-free space designed for emotional decompression and mindfulness, prioritizing sensory feel over technical perfection.
Why Learn With Us?
We are glaze nerds at heart. We mix our own glazes, experimenting with wild combinations like Chun and Rutile, and opening the kiln is always a surprise. Our studio is fully pet-friendly, inclusive, and we keep safety clear so everyone can relax. Whether you are aiming to create a full set of dinnerware or just want to spend a quiet weekend learning a new skill, we are here to guide you through the mess and the magic.
